THQ Nordic has announced another delay for its eagerly awaited survival-horror game, Alone in the Dark. Originally scheduled for an October 2023 release, the game faced its first delay to January 2024. Now, the release date has been pushed back again to March 20, 2024.
The decision to postpone the game’s release comes from a commitment to quality and a responsible approach to game development. THQ Nordic and the development team at the Swedish studio, Pieces Interactive, are dedicated to avoiding crunch time pressure. This delay aims to give the team a stress-free holiday season and more time to refine the game.
The game promises to deliver a high-quality experience, featuring the talents of Hollywood actors David Harbour and Jodie Comer in the lead roles. THQ Nordic is confident that the extra development time will ensure the game not only meets but exceeds community expectations.
Alone in the Dark is described as a homage to the original, blending psychological horror with Southern Gothic themes. Players can choose between two protagonists, Edward Carnby (David Harbour) or Emily Hartwood (Jodie Comer), to explore the eerie Derceto Manor. The game’s narrative is penned by Mikael Hedberg, known for SOMA and Amnesia: The Dark Descent, with monster design by Guillermo del Toro’s collaborator Guy Davis and music by Jason Köhnen.
Developed by Pieces Interactive, Alone in the Dark will be available on PC, Xbox Series S/X, and PlayStation®5.
