Xbox may be rethinking day-one Call of Duty on Game Pass, according to a new claim
A recent livestream discussion suggested Microsoft could pull Call of Duty's same-day launch from Game Pass this year, but nothing has been confirmed.

Xbox may not keep giving Call of Duty the same day-one treatment on Game Pass, according to a new claim tied to a recent livestream discussion.
Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard in 2023, and Call of Duty games began appearing in the Game Pass lineup in 2024. The most recent two entries in the series, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7, were also available on day one through the service.
That setup is now under fresh scrutiny. During a recent livestream, Jez Corden said he had heard Xbox could remove Call of Duty as a day-and-date Game Pass launch this year. Xbox is also going through a major internal shake-up after Asha Sharma was named CEO of Microsoft Gaming following Phil Spencer’s retirement.
For context, Christopher Dring told the BBC in 2024 that Call of Duty on Xbox Game Pass would be a major test for subscription services, saying that if the series could not move subscriber numbers, probably no other game would.
Corden also argued that putting Call of Duty into Game Pass could cut into the money needed for steady content releases, while also making the series cheaper for players who would otherwise buy it outright.
For now, nothing has been confirmed about Call of Duty’s future on Game Pass. If that changes, it would be a big shift for one of Xbox’s most visible subscription perks. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram.
