WoW Patch 12.1 Will Let Players Trade House Layouts With Blueprints

The housing system will support 50 saved designs, item checks, and several export options for interiors and exteriors.

World of Warcraft will add Blueprints to Player Housing with Patch 12.1, giving players a way to save, import, and share complete home layouts. The system will cover both interior and exterior designs, so rebuilding a favorite house should become much less of a hassle.

How Blueprints Will Work

Players will access the new tools through the Housing Dashboard. The dashboard will show saved Blueprints and provide room for up to 50 designs.

Each Blueprint will show the interior budget, room placement budget, pet placement details, and exterior budget. Those figures will help players check whether a design fits the current level and limits of their house before trying to use it.

Blueprints will also include a furnishing list. Players can filter that list to show only missing items, which should make it easier to see what is needed to recreate a build. An imported design can still be used when some furnishings are unavailable, but those missing pieces will not appear in the house.

When saving a design, players will be able to choose between the interior and exterior layout, the current room, or the full house layout. That gives decorators more control over what they preserve and share.

Blueprint Limits to Keep in Mind

The system will have a couple of restrictions. An import will fail if the Blueprint requires a higher budget than the player’s house can support.

There is also a risk when using another player’s design. If the creator deletes the original Blueprint, its code will no longer be reusable. Players who want to keep an imported build should save it as one of their own Blueprints.

House Settings and Permissions will also gain an Export category. The option appears intended to control whether neighbors, guild members, friends, or party members can use a player’s designs, although that part of the system was not fully implemented on the PTR at the time of the report.

Patch 12.1 will make it easier to preserve a favorite room, share a full home, or borrow a clever decorating idea without rebuilding everything by hand. Tell us what you think about Blueprints in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram.
