World of Warcraft’s Valdrakken Quest No Longer Counts Most Patron Orders
A player reports that the change followed the August 11, 2026 patch and affects five professions, with Inscription still progressing the quest.

The weekly profession-order quest in Valdrakken stopped counting The War Within patron orders after the August 11, 2026 patch. The issue appears to affect most professions, although Inscription remains an exception in the player’s testing.
Work order quests in Valdrakken no longer satisfied by current patron work orders

The Valdrakken objective is one of two weekly profession order quests, with the other coming from Dornogal. Before the August 11 patch, completing two or three patron orders for The War Within content would satisfy both quests. That routine no longer works for several professions, creating an extra hurdle for players filling out Dragonflight profession knowledge across multiple characters.
Five professions are affected
The professions identified as no longer accepting The War Within patron orders for the Dragonflight quest are:
- Jewelcrafting
- Tailoring
- Engineering
- Leatherworking
- Blacksmithing
Inscription still allows The War Within patron orders to advance the Valdrakken quest, according to the player’s results. The same player notes that Alchemy does not have a Dragonflight quest, while Enchanting has no order-fulfillment quests in either expansion.
The report does not establish whether every character is affected or whether the behavior was intentional. For now, players working on Dragonflight profession quests may find that their usual The War Within patron orders no longer provide the expected progress.
