World of Warcraft’s Northrend Cup Will Return August 25 With 12 Races and Exclusive Rewards
The August 25 through September 8 event returns with its existing lineup of Riders of Azeroth Badges, the Northrend Racer title, and the Frosted Riders of Azeroth Tabard.

World of Warcraft’s Northrend Cup is scheduled to return on August 25, giving Skyriding fans until September 8 to complete 12 races across Northrend. The returning event does not introduce new rewards, so players will be working toward the existing Northrend Cup lineup. The event will award Riders of Azeroth Badges, which can be exchanged for cosmetic items and other rewards.
Blizzard’s event details also confirm two prizes for players who finish every course on Gold: the “Northrend Racer” title and the Frosted Riders of Azeroth Tabard.
Where to begin the Northrend Cup
Players can pick up the opening quest from Lord Andestrasz near the Rostrum of Transformation in Valdrakken. The event also connects to Stormwind City, Orgrimmar, and the Northrend race locations.
The races come in Normal, Advanced, and Reverse variations, giving racers several ways to tackle each course. The 12 available routes are:
- Grizzly Hills: Blackriver Burble
- Icecrown: Citadel Sortie
- Coldarra: Coldarra Climb
- Crystalsong Forest: Crystalsong Crisis
- Howling Fjord: Daggercap Dart and Scalawag Slither
- Dragonblight: Dragonblight Dragon Flight
- Borean Tundra: Geothermal Jaunt
- Zul’drak: Gundrak Fast Track and Zul’drak Zephyr
- The Storm Peaks: The Maker’s Marathon
- Sholazar Basin: Sholazar Spree
Racers use one of the original Dragonflight Skyriding mounts during the courses. Anyone without one of those mounts will receive a loaner Riders of Azeroth Drake for the event, so missing a mount will not keep anyone grounded.
Gold runs unlock the Northrend Racer rewards
Every Northrend Cup activity provides progress toward Riders of Azeroth Badges. Maztha handles the rewards in Valdrakken, while Dathendrash serves racers at the Riders of Azeroth headquarters in Stormwind City and Orgrimmar.
Completing every Northrend course on Gold grants the Northrend Racing Completionist: Gold achievement alongside the “Northrend Racer” title and Frosted Riders of Azeroth Tabard. It is the event’s clearest challenge for players who want to push their times instead of simply collecting badges.
The vendors also offer the Skymaster’s Blood items, including the Skymaster’s Blood Circlet, Skymaster’s Blood Pauldrons, Skymaster’s Blood Tabard, Skymaster’s Blood Cloak, and Skymaster’s Blood Mantle.

Returning Northrend Cup rewards
Badges can also be spent on the Icy Drake Racer’s transmog pieces:
- Icy Drake Racer’s Helmet
- Icy Drake Racer’s Scarf
- Icy Drake Racer’s Shoulderpads
- Icy Drake Racer’s Jersey
- Icy Drake Racer’s Handwraps
- Icy Drake Racer’s Belt
- Icy Drake Racer’s Leggings
- Icy Drake Racer’s Boots
- Drake Racer’s Scarf
Four dragon customization items are also available:
- Renewed Proto-Drake: Dual Horned Crest
- Windborne Velocidrake: Curled Horns
- Highland Drake: Swept Spiked Head
- Cliffside Wylderdrake: Large Tail Spikes
The remaining cosmetic and utility rewards include the Vial of Endless Draconic Scales, the Checkered Pennant, and the Valdrakken Accord Insignia. The vial randomizes mount customizations each time its owner mounts up, while the insignia can be purchased repeatedly after the other rewards have been collected.
The Northrend Cup will run from August 25 through September 8, leaving racers a limited window to collect badges, chase Gold times, and fill out the event reward collection. Tell us what you think in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
