Now that we’re in the last Raid Tier of WoW Shadowlands, the min-maxing has already begun with tons of people simulating their performance by using viable third-party tools. With Blizzard’s latest patch and class tweaks, the DPS output varied, bringing numerous classes at different spots on the DPS rankings. Without further ado, let’s see who holds the top single-target DPS spot.
The simulation of in-game characters is done by SimulationCraft, a known program that does all the necessary calculations with the best-in-slot gear, covenants, and conduits for the current 9.2.0 patch. This is the very first and initial simulation, which is subject to change in the near future.
WoW Shadowlands Patch 9.2.0 DPS Rankings
The damage output is simulated as a single-target Raid Fight in Patchwerk style, with a fight length of 240-360 seconds. You can find the simulations below.

you forgot BM Hunter on the list
Fixed
What does the VDW in enhancement vdw mean?
V for Venthyr Covenant and DW for Doom Winds legendary
What is VDW on enhancement shamans? slighty confused. should add an explanation of that.
Answer: (Memory of the) Doom Winds: Legendary item: Dropping Windfury Totem grants you 100% chance to gain Windfury Weapon and increases Windfury Weapon damage by 25% for 12 sec. This can only occur once every 1 min.
So, you are ranking Doomwinds lower… what is the legendary for the higher ranking
What base gear level is this list? Because I’m a 205 ilvl playing BM hunter and I run killer instinct instead of animal companion. I’m doing 4,700 dps average. And that ups another 103 with animal companion according to my sims. One thing I absolutely hate about the modern WoW community is how players use these ranking charts to pug. I’m sure people lfg in mythic plus aren’t being picked based on anything other than the spec they’re playing based on a freaking chart someone created. A chart that doesn’t give us any info on gear or secondary % stats. Even some bis lists I’ve seen sim no where close bis gear I’ve spent hours simming. Meaning I’ve found better gear combinations using the same simc as what say icyveins or wowhead tell me is bis. Besides the bis garbage.. Someone like me or even better than me(Bc there are plenty!) who has gamed a BM hunter since 2006 can pump as much dps than most players you’ll find running a MM hunter who run MM purely Bc these websites say it produces more dps. What these charts don’t consider is skill level and class familiarity which is super important for a complex mmo. And I have no trouble in duels or pvp either. Last season the BM hunter was frowned upon in pvp and I was making that work too. Back in the day WoW was created for a player to pick the class they think they will enjoy most then tailor the spec to suit the way you play. that still holds true. You get people running nothing higher than +6 dungeons trying to deny pugs who are arguably better than some random person playing a class and spec thats ranked higher on one of this tier rankings. That’s the issue with these rankings and tiers. I tried MM just to see and my dps was about 85 points lower than my BM build. Not Bc it’s a worse build but because I’m so familiar with BM it’s crazy! It would take me months to be as good at MM than I am BM. But yes! I would like my favorite spec get some upgrades that are on par with some of the other class builds, but no I’m not going to switch. With raider.IO people started declining players based on their IO score lol. Now these spec rankings have “casuals” acting like they are playing for money.. My main toon has always been a BM and that’s the way it’s going to stay, so if some moronic dummy wants to decline my request for a +10 and up.. so be it.. just know that I’m forming my own group and beating whatever time that other group declined me from 7 out of 10 runs .
Oh and a guildie who has always played fire mage as his main leads our guild is dps according to raidbots. According to this list the fire mage is even more worse off than BM hunter lol. Oh and I’ve yet to play with a MM who is pumping more dps than myself. But hey.. I’m not bragging.. I want to mind my BM hunter business and play the game
SP Necrolords is top3 what about top 1? Night fae?
These rankings always blow my mind considering I have no idea of the item level being summed nor do I know whether each particular class is running actual BiS gear. For instance, I have always played BM hunter(since 2005). I stepped away for a few years, but the rotation is pretty straight forward plus knowing where to position and how the class behaves gives its advantages. But make no mistake.. I’m not pro and personally I don’t see my ilvl all that high. I’ve ran mythic 7-10 keys and post good numbers according to raidbots. But my ilvl is only 207 and I’m posting 4,660-4,710 on average. So is the sim this list ran gathering their data from lower ilvl toons? And are they all the same ilvl when the sim was ran? None of these rankings online clarify what was used and it brings me back to the way it was years ago and that’s pick the class you enjoy playing and then pick the spec that suits you. Being familiar with your class spec and rotation will get things done in raids and mythic plus more so than you changing to a spec that you don’t enjoy and aren’t familiar with. That goes for BG’s as well. Hesitation = disadvantage
I’m now posting right at 5k dps with a BM Hunter running 225 rylakstalker legendary, a few bis items that around between 207-213 ilvl. My overall item level is 209. So unless these sims are with a BM hunter of a much lower level I’m not buying it tbh. I’m no where near as talented as some players, but I am familiar with BM in terms of when to switch, positioning, interrupts, and a solid rotation. But if I’m hitting 5k with 209 ilvl I’m certain better players can do even more. These rankings are so biased imo
