World of Warcraft: Forever Beta Census Reaches 1,003,125 Characters

Alliance characters make up 50.4% of the tally, which includes 68,280 level-30 characters.

The World of Warcraft: Forever beta census has passed one million entries, with 1,003,125 characters recorded in the latest scan. That is a character tally, not a confirmed count of individual players.

Alliance characters now make up 50.4% of the samples, with 505,425 entries, while Horde accounts for 49.6%, or 497,700. The balance has shifted from the earlier scan, which put Horde ahead at 51.6%.

The latest level breakdown includes 68,280 characters at level 30 and 246,536 between levels 21 and 29. Blizzard raised the beta level cap from 20 to 30 on October 2, allowing the census to include characters at the new maximum. By October 1, the scan had recorded 375,806 characters at levels 1 through 20, and its organizer said level-30 data was still incomplete.

The scan is conducted in-game by the organizer and volunteers. When a character is scanned again, its recorded level is updated, so level totals can shift as characters progress. More figures are available at classicplus.io.

The census tracks 10 races, 9 classes and 56 race-and-class combinations, including 16 marked as new in Forever. Undead Paladin has risen from 5.4% of the earlier tally to 5.8% of the current one. Troll Warrior is the least-played Horde combination, with 4,257 characters, while Dwarf Rogue is the least common overall, with 1,935.

Name statistics show 877 characters with “Chud” in their names and 16,507 names flagged as offensive. An earlier update said the name filter had scanned about 10,000 offensive names. The organizer thinks many of the most offensive names that no longer appear were probably banned, but their disappearance does not confirm the reason.

Hunter figures still warrant caution. The organizer suspects bots may be affecting those numbers, based on where characters are found and how often they appear.
