World of Warcraft 12.2 Eclipse Will Add Midnight’s Edge and an 8-Boss Raid

Eclipse will expand the Mantle Vault with a new dungeon, Mythic+ reward tier, Paladin options, and Housing tools.

World of Warcraft 12.2 Eclipse will take the story into the Mantle Vault for its final major confrontation with Xal’atath. The update will add the 8-boss Worldcore raid, the caster dagger Midnight’s Edge, a new dungeon and Mythic+ season, expanded Delves, more Housing tools, and several class and system updates. Blizzard has outlined the full group of additions in its official announcement.

Story content will lead players beneath Azeroth and toward the Worldcore, where Xal’atath is trying to become one with the Worldsoul. The raid will bring players into conflict with void enemies, Titan constructs, living Azerite, and Xal’atath herself. It is also positioned as the final major raid of the Worldsoul Saga, although the story still hints at an older mystery connected to Azeroth and its inhabitants.

Eclipse Reveal Places Xal’atath Before a Titan Gate

An Eclipse reveal trailer shows Xal’atath standing before a giant Titan gate that blocks the path to the World Core. The barrier gives the Mantle Vault’s ancient defenses a direct role in her attempt to reach what lies beyond it.

The Mantle Vault Adds a New Zone and Faction

Hidden by the Titans long ago, the Mantle Vault will introduce the Thraegar, an ancient race of crystalline, dwarflike creatures that will join Azeroth’s champions against the Devouring Host. Stone worms and crystalline elementals will inhabit the zone, matching its focus on stone and Azerite.

The Deepskar Empire will provide another threat below the surface. Its subterranean coalition includes kobolds, troggs, drogbar, and niffen, none of whom will be especially welcoming to the players entering their territory.

Eclipse will also add The Gearhold, a new lair where the enormous Azerite bat Noctinaxx awaits. The encounter will support World, Normal, Heroic, and flexible Mythic difficulties.

Renown with the Radiant Core will provide a longer-term progression path, while Radiant Screams will send players across the zone to respond to disturbances connected to the Worldsoul’s cries. The event will support flexible group sizes and offer its own rewards.

Worldcore Will Bring the Fight to Xal’atath

The Worldcore raid will feature eight bosses and serve as the central confrontation with Xal’atath. Players will first need to stop her from reaching the Worldsoul, then find out whether defeating her can resolve the deeper danger beneath Azeroth.

Worldcore will also begin the path toward Midnight’s Edge, the first Legendary weapon of both Midnight and the Worldsoul Saga. The caster dagger’s questline starts inside the raid, but defeating its bosses will be only one part of the process required to unlock it.

Season 3 Adds a New Dungeon and Mythic+ Rewards

Smaller groups will be able to enter Thraegar’s Stand, a three-boss dungeon featuring the excavation foremen Cragcleaver and Foreman Sullk, the Azerite elemental Monokk, and the Titan construct Stenvarg the Inevitable. It will join the Season 3 Mythic+ rotation.

Season 3 will use an eight-dungeon Mythic+ pool containing Thraegar’s Stand, The Underrot, Iron Docks, Sanguine Depths, The Stonecore, Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr, Magisters’ Terrace, and Maisara Cavern.

Mythic+ players will receive a new seasonal reward tier for finishing in the top 5% of ratings. The top 1% and top 5% rewards will also be calculated within each specialization rather than across the entire Mythic+ player base. Protection Warriors, for example, will be compared with other Protection Warriors when seasonal rewards are determined.

Delves and Outdoor Activities Expand

Season 3 will expand Delves with a higher level cap, new Curios, and more variations of existing routes. Valeera Sanguinar’s storyline will continue, while Astalor Bloodsworn will arrive as a new Nemesis.

The Prey system will receive new targets and Torments, along with Agony Mode, its final difficulty. Players will investigate the disturbances caused by Xal’atath’s efforts to claim the Worldsoul as they enter the Mantle Vault.

Paladins will gain three new race options when Eclipse arrives. Forsaken, Night Elf, and Troll characters will be able to take up the class and wield the Light.

Housing Gains Showcase and Decorating Tools

Showcase will give players a way to browse featured homes, visit selected designs, and submit their own homes. Submissions will use a saved snapshot, so owners can continue decorating after entering a Showcase event. Some events may offer exclusive décor rewards, and Visitor Codes will let players share access to their homes.

Mannequins will display unlocked gear and weapon appearances inside homes. Housing will also receive copy-paste and multi-select tools for décor, while owners will be able to purchase additional copies of décor they already own from inside their homes. Four new Housing endeavors will arrive as well, including Stormriders of the Isle of Dorn.

More Eclipse Features Include Transmog and WoW Remix

The Calibration Chamber will give parties and raids a place to test rotations with varied target dummies, cooldown resets, and full raid buffs. PvP progression will receive a new Journey with its own rewards.

Starting with content update 12.2.5, players will be able to transmog gear across armor types without restriction. Blizzard has also confirmed a Wrath of the Lich King Remix, which will return players to Northrend for another journey through the Scourge era.

With a new zone, flexible world event, dungeon, 8-boss raid, legendary weapon questline, Mythic+ reward structure, and broader Housing systems, Eclipse is shaping up to give Midnight a substantial final major chapter before the story moves beyond Xal’atath.
