World of Tanks Update 2.4 Will Put 3 Players in the Pre-Battle Spotlight
The new Random Battle feature will showcase selected players, their vehicles, performance stats, and customization before the match begins.

World of Tanks Update 2.4 will give the pre-battle countdown a more personal opening with Spotlight, a cinematic introduction that presents 3 players from your team before the match begins. One player takes the center position, where the game can show their recent performance, battle statistics, vehicle information, and even a pet if they own one.
Wargaming’s Spotlight overview explains how the feature will work across maps such as Himmelsdorf, Nordskar, and Highway. Different vehicles, customizations, and surroundings will give each introduction its own look, with some scenes also using audio effects.
How World of Tanks Spotlight Chooses Players
Anyone on the team can appear, although several parts of an account can affect the odds. Current-session results, overall account performance, and vehicle customization may all contribute, either separately or together. A vehicle’s Elite level and the player’s pet status can also factor into the selection.
Spotlight will display each featured player’s nickname, clan tag, badge, vehicle name, vehicle type, tier, and Elite level. The central player receives the largest presentation, including recent performance and battle statistics. Non-historical customization settings will carry into the sequence, so personalized vehicles can still look the part when they take the stage.
When Spotlight Will Appear
The feature will be available in Random Battles with Tier V or higher vehicles. Its length will depend on the battle loading time, meaning some players may see the full sequence while others receive a shorter version.
After Spotlight finishes, the standard pre-battle screen will appear with the team lineups, map, and other battle information. That screen is intended to appear at least 10 seconds before the battle starts. If loading finishes with less than 10 seconds remaining, Spotlight may not appear at all.
Players who would rather get straight to the lineup can press Esc to skip the introduction. It is a small touch, but a useful one for anyone who has already seen the presentation several times.
Update 2.4 Welcome Back Rewards
Update 2.4 will also offer a return package for players who have not entered battle for more than 60 days. Logging in will grant a collection of rental vehicles, XP missions, Personal Reserves, 2D styles, and WoT Premium Account time.
- Vz. 58 Medvěd: Tier IX Premium vehicle rental for 30 days, with 30 missions awarding ×5 XP for a Victory.
- Prototipo 6: Tier VIII Premium vehicle rental for 30 days, with 30 missions awarding ×5 XP for a Victory.
- WoT Premium Account: 30 days, providing +50% to Combat XP, Crew XP, and credit earnings, along with other bonuses.
- Amber Armor: 2D Styles.
- Personal Reserves: 30 total, including 15 granting +100% Combat XP for 1 hour and 15 granting +50% credits for 1 hour.
The rewards will be waiting in-game for eligible returning players, and advance notice will be provided before the bonuses end. The wider update will also include Tier XI vehicles, a new German heavy line, new Personal Missions, and improved matchmaking.
