Wargaming has prepared a set of balance changes for the Ares medium tank line that will arrive with Update 2.2 and are available to test now in Common Test 3. The Ares branch was added in Update 2.1.1 and quickly became a heavily researched medium line. Developer monitoring of in-game data and player feedback prompted a targeted rebalance that focuses on the tanks’ continuous-fire profile and survivability.
The high-level goals are to preserve the Ares identity while reducing several areas of overperformance. Players in Common Test 3 can evaluate how the adjustments affect firing rhythm, module damage, and direct-engagement durability. Technical and service links related to the release:
Patch Notes
The Update 2.2 adjustments reduce the Ares line’s per-shot damage and its ability to quickly destroy internal modules. HE effectiveness is targeted with a stronger reduction. Selected vehicles will see longer cooldown start delays and weakened armor in specific locations. These changes should require more deliberate firing sequences while retaining the line’s continuous-fire concept.
- All Ares tanks will receive a slight reduction to the base damage of standard and special shells, lowering the damage output of continuous fire.
- HE shell damage will be reduced more significantly due to its higher-than-expected performance.
- Some vehicles of this line will also have an increased delay before cooling begins, extending pauses between firing sequences.
- All tanks in the branch will now deal 10 times less damage to enemy internal modules to better match their firing mechanics.
- Additionally, armor on specific parts will be weakened to reduce survivability in direct engagements.
Players should test firing sequences and engagement tactics in Common Test 3 to see how the reduced shell damage, module damage multiplier, and cooling delays change typical Ares play patterns.
