If hosting your own server sounds appealing (and let’s be honest, it does), you’re in luck! This update introduces player-hosted dedicated servers as part of an alpha test phase where your feedback is crucial as they refine things further. Please visit RtM Discord.. Joining one doesn’t require any special installation either, as long as you’ve got that sweet 1.x game update under your belt along with a join code from someone else running a server, you’re good to go! Check out more details on how this works here.. Expect full open release early next year too, so stay tuned!
The developers didn’t stop at cosmetics, they’ve made several gameplay tweaks that should make life easier inside those dark caverns:
- Treasure Pile management now lets players see what’s inside each pile instead of guessing blindly where those black diamonds went off to.
- You can rename storage chests now too, personalize them however you’d like!
- Sensitivity sliders have been added for controller aiming because who wants sensitivity issues when you’re trying not to die?
- Trees and Ubasam mushrooms will regrow after some time, but not within hearth radius; no cheating here!
- You can plant cranberries now; it’s about time we had some farming fun!
- A statue buildable late-game lets players craft their own Statue of Elbereth because why not
- The Dwarf Select screen shows currently equipped armor looks so no more surprises when gearing up
- Simplified gamepad navigation means less fumbling around inventory slot
- Crafting iron ore from scrap metal is possible now too; finally putting all those resources lying around back into use!i>
This feels like Christmas came early, and I’m not talking about Santa sliding down chimneys.
General Fixes
No patch would be complete without addressing pesky bugs that plague our adventures:
Resolved issues causing dropped items not saving properly during level loads.
The devs are aware there are still some gremlins lurking around waiting for attention:
If you encounter any pesky problems while exploring Middle-earth, or if you’ve ever wondered why certain mechanics feel familiar, be sure to submit support tickets so they know what needs fixing next!
This Winter Update feels substantial yet intimate, a celebration wrapped up nicely in holiday cheer among patches galore! Whether you’re donning new skins or feasting on Yule treats with friends around virtual firesides, I’d say it’s worth logging back into Moria just one more time before heading off into another gaming adventure.
