One of Warzone‘s most underrated weapons is the XMG LMG, which has a lightning-fast time-to-kill (TTK) at long distances. You might find it surprising that, despite this strength, very few players actually utilize it in matches.
Weapon updates in Warzone often disrupt the meta, sometimes subtly and other times drastically. Season 4 Reloaded introduced some changes, followed by further balancing that affected weapons like the DM-10 and TR2, making their TTKs significantly slower.
Popular Warzone content creator WhosImmortal pointed out on July 20 that the XMG is “overpowered” beyond 50 meters. He explained that while LMGs aren’t usually favorites since they’re a bit slower and heavier, the XMG stands out as a powerhouse with an “insane” TTK in those longer-range fights.
The weapon’s damage doesn’t really drop off until past 90 meters, which is farther than most engagements happen anyway. According to WhosImmortal, “This thing melts,” and it’s also one of the easiest guns to use in the entire game. You’d expect everyone to be using it.
Yet, despite its strengths, the XMG only has a 0.2% pick rate according to CODMunity, trailing behind even the recently nerfed Krig C. Honestly, I can’t believe it’s so overlooked. You don’t need any special tricks to get the most out of the XMG. It comes with eight attachments, though you can swap some around based on what feels right to you:
- Optic: Otero Red Dot
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: Reinforced Barrel
- Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
- Magazine: Fast Mag I
- Rear Grip: Quickdraw Grip
- Stock: Buffer Weight Stock
- Fire Mods: Recoil Springs
It makes you wonder, why don’t more players give this LMG a chance? Could it be the reputation LMGs have for being slow or cumbersome? Or maybe the hype around other weapons drowns it out? Either way, if you want to try something a little different that packs a punch at range, the XMG might be your next go-to.
