Which Kaiju Fits Your Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered Style?

The PS5 version is scheduled to launch November 3, with 12 fighters built around very different strengths and weaknesses.

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered is scheduled to launch on PS5 November 3 with 12 kaiju, and choosing one comes down to how you want to fight. Some are built to keep opponents at a distance, others rely on speed or grapples, and a few can take a hit while dealing plenty of damage in return.

Start with a steady brawler or fast pressure

Heisei Godzilla is the most straightforward starting point. His high starting health and balanced stats leave room to learn, while quick claws and a useful tail strike when he gets back up give him dependable close-range attacks. His energy pulse hits hard, but its slow charge gives opponents time to counter. His projectiles are sluggish, too, so close the distance rather than trading shots from afar.

Godzilla 2000 offers a similar, slightly quicker option. He is faster than Heisei Godzilla but less powerful and a little more vulnerable, while remaining balanced and easy to handle. If you want mobility without giving up an all-round fighting style, he is a natural alternative.

For more aggressive pressure, Gigan pairs quick attacks with teleportation that helps him evade and close in. His hook strikes can hit hard, though the Laser Eye is awkward to aim and energy attacks are a weakness. Anguirus also moves quickly, but works better as a counterattacker than a powerhouse. He has strong defense and grapples, and his slow-turning block can damage an opponent who hits his spines. Low power and a lack of long-range moves make timing more important.

Control the distance with energy and firepower

King Ghidorah is a durable zoning choice, using several projectiles to keep rivals back. He is slow, and his limited flight drains energy, but his lightning blast does not need a charge while he is airborne. His weak melee attacks make it risky to let an opponent get close.

Mechagodzilla is a more heavily armed ranged fighter, with strong defensive stats, lasers, missiles, a plasma cannon, and a flying headbutt. Flight and many of those attacks consume energy, so an empty reserve leaves him with weak grabs and sluggish melee. Kiryu is the more balanced, weapons-focused alternative. Its attacks also use plenty of energy, but the Absolute Zero Cannon gives it a potent rage attack.

Destoroyah trades speed for hard-hitting physical attacks and powerful mid-range energy moves, many of which can be unblockable. Those abilities use a lot of energy, and his slow movement makes it harder to compensate when they are unavailable. Pick him for heavy punishment, not a quick retreat.

Use movement, defense, and grapples to disrupt opponents

Rodan is the roster’s fastest kaiju and its most mobile in the air. Speedy melee attacks and a strong breath weapon suit hit-and-run tactics, but Rodan has the weakest defense in the game. Avoid standing toe-to-toe with a sturdier opponent.

Megalon can burrow to evade attacks, then emerge to grab an opponent, with electricity attacks adding more ways to keep pressure on. Burrowing costs energy, and below-average defense makes getting caught a problem. Keep moving and avoid treating him like a tank.

If grappling is your plan, Orga has the strongest toolkit for it, with long reach that helps in close and mid-range fights. He is somewhat slow, and fast opponents or enemies resistant to blunt attacks can blunt his advantage. His paralyzing goo also costs a lot of energy, so a miss can leave him exposed. Mecha-King Ghidorah combines ranged tools with grappling, plus a shield and draining projectiles. He is slow and lacks the raw power of King Ghidorah, while his best attacks and shield depend on energy.
