The 90s Action Heroes event is on its way to Black Ops 6 and Warzone, bringing a fresh batch of rewards inspired by classic 90s action movies. This event lands during Season 5, which kicks off on August 7, keeping the Black Ops 6 era lively even as Black Ops 7 looms in the distance.
So, when exactly will this blast from the past start? While there’s no official date yet, it’s confirmed to drop sometime during Season 5. Since the update hits on August 7, the event likely won’t begin immediately. Still, it could launch anytime from August 14 up to the mid-season update expected in early September, patience, then, for all those action buffs.
What’s the event about?
Here’s where things get a bit murky. The 90s Action Heroes event could follow one of three familiar paths in Black Ops 6: challenge events, collection events, or XP events.
Challenge events task players with completing specific objectives to unlock rewards across multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone modes. Collection events have enemies dropping tokens that you gather to hit milestones before the event expires. The simplest, XP events, just ask players to rack up XP by playing matches and scoring kills.
Maybe this event will mix things up, but odds are it’ll stick to one of these formats. We’ll keep you posted as soon as more details emerge.
Rewards revealed so far
The event promises 13 rewards in total, but only two have been shown off so far.
First up is the Mister Peeks Field Upgrade for Zombies mode. This little mascot from Liberty Falls is more than just cute; he distracts and attacks enemies while disco music plays, which sounds like a perfect way to escape overwhelming hordes.
The mastery reward is a brand-new melee weapon: Boxing Gloves. They take a few hits to down an enemy, but hit faster than most melee weapons and have extra reach. Sounds like a solid choice for tight maps where quick punches matter.
As more rewards get revealed, we’ll update this space so you know exactly what to chase.
So what do you think? Will this ’90s throwback event hit the right notes, or is it just another gimmick? I’m curious to see how players respond once it kicks off.
