Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 and Ace Combat 7 have topped the charts with impressive sales figures, each hitting the six million mark. It’s hard not to feel a sense of satisfaction when games you love are recognized for their quality, and these two titles certainly deserve it.
Ace Combat 7, launched in 2019, took around five years to reach this milestone. That’s quite a journey. In contrast, Space Marine 2, released just four months ago in September 2024, has already matched that number. Talk about making an impact!
Both games run smoothly on PC, which is another win for gamers. Ace Combat 7 utilizes Unreal Engine 4 and doesn’t demand high-end hardware to enjoy its aerial battles. Conversely, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is powered by Saber Interactive’s proprietary engine. Remember how well it performed in World War Z? If you’ve got an NVIDIA RTX 4090 lying around, you’re in for a treat running it at native 4K with Ultra settings at a solid frame rate.
This news strikes a chord when many studios struggle with their releases. It feels refreshing to see some titles finding success while others flounder in the live-service abyss. Developers should take note; we want more great single-player experiences over endless grindfests!
I can’t help but wonder what Bandai Namco is cooking up next regarding the Ace Combat series. With AC7 being five years old, will we hear about new adventures soon? Let’s hope they don’t keep us waiting too long before next-gen consoles hit store shelves!
What do you think of these sales numbers? Are they indicative of something larger happening within the industry?
