A few days ago, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 received its Patch 8.0 – Siege Update. This brought the new Siege Mode, White Scars and Blood Angels cosmetic packs, plus some tweaks and minor changes. If you haven’t checked it out yet, the full patch notes are linked below.
Now, let’s rewind a bit and talk about what’s coming next, as the first year of content is slowly wrapping up…
What’s Coming After Year One? 🧐
Thanks to your support, Focus Entertainment is happy to confirm a second year of content with both free updates and DLC, bundled in a new yearly season pass. Expect new PvE missions, enemies, weapons, and more—though details are still under wraps for now. More will be revealed in upcoming community updates in July and August.
To celebrate the game’s first anniversary, a large-scale 10.0 major update is planned for September. Before that, update 9.0 will focus solely on balancing changes and won’t add new content.
Unfortunately, the new PvP mode originally planned for update 9.0 is now postponed to the 10.0 update. While visuals are still under wraps, here’s what we know:
- This PvP mode takes place on a brand-new map.
- Unlike usual Loyalist vs Chaos battles, this mode pits Chaos against Chaos.
- Players will get to control the Helbrute—a first for the game.
Since this mode revolves around Chaos, new Chaos armor sets will also be added. also, a new melee weapon—the Power Axe—will be introduced, complete with its own moveset and execution animations. A first look at the Power Axe shows promising detail, though it’s still a work in progress.
Another interesting announcement: a new class is in development for both PvE and PvP modes. The class will be the Techmarine. More details will come with future community updates.
Patch 8.0 in Detail ⚙️
Patch 8.0 – Siege Update was tested on the Public Test Server, and thanks to player feedback, several improvements were made before the live release. Here’s a brief overview:
Siege Mode
This new mode is the highlight of the update. Players who tried the PTS noticed concerns about the wave timer, so the developers reworked it:
The timer now counts for the entire session rather than individual waves. Each wave you beat increases the timer, allowing longer play. After wave 15, enemies grow stronger faster to keep things challenging. The goal is to have players lose from combat, not the timer.
Further optimizations may remove the timer completely in the future.
Feedback is still welcome as players continue to experience Siege Mode.
White Scars Chapter Pack
The Assault Class Champion comes with new cosmetics and exclusive skins for the Occulus Bolt Carbine, Stalker Bolt Rifle, and Combat Knife.
The White Scars Successor Chapters include Dark Hunters, Destroyers, Mantis Warriors, Marauders, Rampagers, Solar Hawks, Storm Lords, and Storm Reapers.
Blood Angel Cosmetic Pack
This pack adds new cosmetics for the Blood Angels, along with successor chapters like Angels Penitent, Angels Sanguine, Atlantian Spears, Blood Dragons, Blood Scythes, Flesh Eaters, Flesh Tearers, and Lamenters.

Fan Contest Highlights 🧑🎨
The May Community Update featured a fan art contest focused on the Campaign Mode. The winner, WryWood, created charming figures of Brother Valtus and a Tyranid mid-battle. It’s a big piece that clearly took time and care.
Feel free to leave a congratulatory comment on WryWood’s post.
