Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has just received Hotfix #71 (version 1.8.3), addressing a range of cosmetic issues, gameplay bugs, and some Arbites-specific changes that players might appreciate. If you’ve noticed some odd decal placements or certain challenges feeling too grindy, this patch is going to be relevant.
The main focus here is correcting the precinct decal display on Arbites cosmetics, which was behaving unexpectedly after the previous update. The developers have clarified how these decals will appear moving forward:
- All progression gear upper bodies will show the chosen precinct number, except the deluxe edition upper body, which remains unchanged.
- The cape included in the Deluxe Arbites DLC won’t display a precinct number.
- In-game earnable cosmetics with capes also won’t show precinct numbers on those capes.
- The Arbitrator Revelatum Plate with Covert Ops Coat (Lucis) from the Commodore’s Vestures won’t have the precinct number on the right shoulder anymore, matching how it was originally presented.
Alongside these cosmetic fixes, the update includes important gameplay and stability improvements. The developers upgraded to the latest FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR 3.1.4), which might help with performance if you’re running the game on compatible hardware.
Other fixes include:
- Correct sizing of Basic Training reward preview images.
- Backstory choices now properly load from saved data instead of randomizing at operation start in the Barber-Chirurgeon.
- The ‘Chained Deathblow’ blessing on the Turtolsky Heavy Sword now scales its very important chance bonus correctly across all tiers.
- Additional crash fixes related to Auspex devices playing sounds simultaneously with weapon use.
- Server stability improvements by fixing crashes caused when players stepped in certain mission locations.
Cosmetic and animation glitches also got some attention. The Veteran “Regimental Beret” no longer hides part of the hairline, and other headgear cosmetics that previously caused hairline breaks have been fixed.
The Arbites faction received several tweaks and fixes too. Notably, the requirements for some Arbites Penances have been lowered significantly, which might make those challenges less daunting:
- ‘Justice Dispensed’ reduced from 3500 to 750
- ‘Arbites Gunner’ reduced from 3500 to 2000
- ‘Castigator’s Arrest’ reduced from 3500 to 2000
Other Arbites-related fixes include:
- Sound issues when the Nuncio Aquila ability expires have been resolved.
- Enemies no longer get deformed when pounced on by the Cyber-Mastiff, and smoke effects for Cyber-Mastiff cosmetics are back.
- ‘Remote Detonation’ no longer triggers ranged attack bonuses incorrectly.
- Blood effects now appear correctly on the Shock Maul and Suppression Shield head.
- The ‘Prosecution Blow’ ability applies as intended.
- The ‘Pinpointing Target’ blessing triggers properly on the Shotpistol and Riot Shield.
- motivating Recitation now grants the stated 30% damage reduction.
- ‘Castigator’s Stance’ replenishes Toughness correctly even when standing on fire.
- Enemy tagging issues with double tag settings and ‘Execution Order’ have been fixed so tags behave as expected.
