Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun fans have reason to be curious as developer Auroch Digital revealed two new projects during the recent Warhammer Skulls Showcase. The sequel, Boltgun 2, is set for release in 2026, while a fresh, free-to-play typing game called Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun—Words of Vengeance is available now on Steam.
Boltgun 2: What We Know So Far
The upcoming Boltgun 2 promises to continue the boomer shooter style that made the original a quick and satisfying blood-soaked romp. Players will return as legendary space marine Malum Caedo, equipped with “even deadlier abilities” to battle the Emperor’s foes. Familiar enemies like Nurglings and Chaos Cultists will come back, alongside new threats such as Bloodletters and Juggernauts.
Caedo’s journey will take him across various new worlds and biomes, with fresh weapons designed to “eviscerate hordes of relentless heretical scum.” While details remain light, the announcement trailer and information suggest a faithful continuation of the original’s fast-paced action.
Words of Vengeance: A Typing Game with a Gruesome Twist
Alongside the sequel announcement, Auroch Digital released Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun—Words of Vengeance, a first-person typing game that turns your words into weapons. Players type randomized words and phrases from Warhammer 40,000 lore to defeat enemies, blending typing practice with the franchise’s grimdark atmosphere.
Though typing might not deliver the same visceral excite as wielding a chainsword, this free game offers a distinct way to engage with the Boltgun universe. You can download and play it now on Steam here.
For those who prefer the original Boltgun experience, the game is currently available at half price ($15) on the Epic Games Store.
