Warframe just rolled out Hotfix 38.6.2, and it’s a pretty important, especially if you play with a controller on Steam. The update brings back the much-needed controller Action Sets that were removed by mistake in the previous patch, along with many fixes for quests, abilities, and gameplay quirks that have been bugging players.

Here’s the lowdown on what’s changed and what you should know:

Controller Action Sets Restored

  • The devs admitted they goofed by removing Action Sets without warning, which caused headaches for many Tenno relying on them for controller play. They’ve now restored these sets in Steam Input Configs and apologized for the inconvenience.
  • Heads up: if you had custom controller configs, those might have been wiped out when the Action Sets were removed. You’ll need to set them up again manually after this hotfix goes live.
  • While fixing this, they also addressed some controller-specific issues:
    • Adaptive triggers now work properly with Steam Input enabled. You can toggle haptic feedback in Warframe’s Controller settings under “Enable Controller Trigger Effect.”
    • PlayStation controller users can now use Transference and Last Gasp by pressing the touchpad, regardless of Steam Input Config settings.
  • Some persistent bugs tied to Steam Input Action Sets will return with this fix, including:
    • Kahl’s jetpack boosters sometimes activating nonstop.
    • Necramech stamina draining after repeated dodging.
    • Railjack seat exit bound to Square/X, which messes with the Flush Heat Sinks reload mechanic.
    • Archwing blink mechanic not working.
    • Held inputs sticking after opening and closing the Ability menu.
  • On the bright side, keyboard & mouse support for Steam Deck and Big Picture mode remains solid, along with DualSense controller trigger effects, LED functions, and auto-detection of controller icons.

Quest and Gameplay Fixes

  • Players stuck on a black screen at the end of The Duviri Paradox quest can finally breathe easy — that bug is fixed.
  • Ambulas and Bursas now enter the correct post-hack state instead of dying, which means the Ambulas assassination mission on Pluto is playable again.
  • Meso T7 has been properly vaulted with Yareli Prime’s launch.
  • Yareli’s abilities won’t break mid-mission if Silenced by Violence while riding Merulina.
  • Yareli’s passive now works correctly for Clients using Vazarin as their active Focus School.
  • Fixed a bug causing players to get stuck in The War Within quest due to Operator Transference issues.
  • Nightwave Rank 14 now has the correct version of Arcane Fury.

Additional Fixes

  • Kullvero Apostate’s knives now have proper textures when casting abilities.
  • Visual effects on Gemini Skins and Kullvero Apostate under Mirage’s Eclipse have been corrected.
  • Yareli Prime is now selectable in Teshin’s Cave in Duviri.
  • Fixed incorrect Platinum listing in Yareli Prime Accessories bundle description on PC Market.
  • Prime Details toggle no longer disables all attachments on Gauss Prime.
  • Radia Syandana deformation fixed.
  • Typo fixed in Kompressa Receiver.
  • Scimitar can now turn left in loading screens (Zoolander vibes avoided!).
  • Dojo room capacity now correctly reflects Duviri Senate Seat decorations.
  • Purchasing items via Varzia’s screen, including the new Gunblade Battlekit, no longer causes loss of function.
  • Script errors when viewing Kubrow cosmetics and using the Captura quick access wheel have been fixed.
  • Rare crash when an enemy Bonewidow dies has been addressed.
  • Players on older Windows 10 versions can now launch the game without issues.

Other Notes

  • The ability to replay the Chimera Prologue, Erra, and Heart of Deimos quests has been temporarily removed due to stability issues. First-time players won’t be affected.
  • The Alerts tab in Navigation now prioritizes time-limited events like Gift of the Lotus Alerts over recurring weekly alerts to make them easier to spot.

What do you think about the return of controller Action Sets and these fixes? Have you been affected by any of these bugs? Drop your thoughts and experiences in the comments below!
