WARDOGS is making community moderation part of its anti-cheat advice before Steam Early Access begins on September 10. Its 11th “Reason NOT to Buy” does not name a new detection system, instead pointing players toward the in-game report tool on official servers and community hosted servers where admins can instantly ban bad actors. Earlier, BULKHEAD’s machine-learning anti-cheat discussion described machine learning and statistical detection as possible WARDOGS anti-cheat tools, while warning that unusual behavior can create false positives.
BULKHEAD lays out the recommendation in its latest Steam announcement, which repeats the rule that developers do not talk about anti-cheat. Rather than explain a named tool, the message puts the emphasis on reporting and server-level moderation. Official servers give players the report function, while community hosts can act on problems inside their own spaces.
Community servers give admins more control
Community Hosted Servers are available to pre-order through QONZER, BisectHosting, and xREALM, the 3 approved hosting partners named by BULKHEAD. The company is presenting those servers as the strongest option for players who want admins to remove disruptive users without waiting for a wider moderation process.
That approach does not replace reporting on official servers. It gives organized groups another way to manage matches, especially if they prefer a server where the people in charge can respond immediately to cheating or other bad behavior. The announcement does not explain how WARDOGS’ underlying anti-cheat tools will work, so the current message is about player reporting and admin control rather than technical details.
Launch-day plans remain on schedule
WARDOGS Early Access remains scheduled for September 10, and BULKHEAD says its launch trailer will go live that day. The launch follows a closed beta that drew nearly 500,000 players and passed 100,000 concurrent players on Steam, as detailed in our beta turnout report.
The $100K Clip Contest is also still running before launch. Players can share their best moments with #wardogs100k or submit them through the contest site.
Will community moderation be enough for WARDOGS at launch, or do you want more detail on its anti-cheat tools? Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
