War Thunder’s Victory over Japan Day event is now live, giving players until September 5 at 09:00 GMT to earn 2 commemorative decals. Both rewards require 3,000 mission points, although the first task accepts vehicles from 4 nations while the second is limited to Chinese vehicles.
Victory over Japan Day marks Japan’s surrender at the end of World War II. Emperor Shōwa announced the country’s acceptance of the Potsdam Declaration on August 15, 1945, while the formal surrender document was signed on September 2. Gaijin Entertainment outlined the in-game event in its Steam announcement.
How to earn the 2 War Thunder decals
The event uses 2 separate tasks, so players can target either reward or complete both during the limited window.
- VJ-Day 2026: Earn 3,000 mission points in battles while using US, British, USSR, or Chinese vehicles at Rank III or higher.
- Chevron of the 88th NRA Division: Earn 3,000 mission points in battles while using Chinese vehicles at Rank III or higher.
Both tasks can be completed in random battles, except for Assault mode. Progress is available in the hangar under Nickname → Achievements → Holidays → Victory over Japan Day.
Once a task is complete, the reward must be collected manually. The VJ-Day 2026 decal appears in the customization menu’s Holidays tab, while the Chevron of the 88th NRA Division decal is placed under China → Tanks.
