Valve is warning shoppers on the Steam Deck web store that the handheld may be intermittently out of stock in some regions because of ongoing memory and storage shortages.
The notice specifically calls out the Steam Deck OLED models in both the 512 GB and 1 TB configurations. The handheld recently sold out in the United States, and Valve says availability may be inconsistent while the company works through constrained supply lines.

Why supplies are tight
The company and retail observers point to a broader squeeze in memory and storage components that began in late 2025 when RAM prices spiked as AI-driven demand increased. That pressure on component supplies has carried into 2026 and affected multiple hardware plans across the industry.
Valve also delayed a planned wave of new hardware, including the Steam Machine, Frame, and Controller, citing the same supply line problems, and they also quietly ended production of the LCD Steam Deck model in December, meaning the cheapest Deck will not be remade once current stock runs out.
Prospective buyers should monitor Valve’s Steam store for availability updates while suppliers work through component shortages.
