Valve Leak Files Point to Fatshark’s Canceled Scream Prototype

Rough multiplayer footage and a Depot 42151 record offer the main clues, but neither establishes that the project reached full production.

An apparent canceled multiplayer Scream game from Fatshark has surfaced in files tied to the August 2026 Valve leak. A short clip shows a stark menu with options for PLAY GAME and MULTIPLAYER GAME PRACTICE, while a related SteamDB entry identifies the project’s last known name as Scream Prototype. The material does not confirm that the game progressed beyond a prototype.

An unsecured public access point exposed 12TB of older Valve files in August 2026, creating the archive in which this prototype was found. Posts dated August 31 and September 1, 2026, attributed the discovery to the user @fellarobux. The first post described the project as a canceled multiplayer Scream game made by Fatshark and included the rough footage.

Why the project may have stopped at a pitch

Fatshark developed Escape Dead Island and is also known for Vermintide and Darktide. The leaked concept appears to have been a basic multiplayer horror game in the same broad space as Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Dead by Daylight. The footage is too limited to establish how a finished version would have played.

A February date on the final build sits about 2 months before Scream 4 reached theaters. That timing supports the pitch theory, although it does not prove the game was formally presented to the license holder. The files do not explain why the project ended or whether the pitch received a response.

Depot 42151 links the files to Scream

Depot 42151 provides a separate database clue. Its entry is associated with an Upcoming Fatshark Game and gives the last known name as Scream Prototype. The record strengthens the connection between the files and the alleged project, but it does not confirm a finished game, a release plan, or an active revival.

For now, this is evidence of an old prototype rather than news of a new Scream game. Fatshark or the license holders would need to confirm the project’s history before the leaked footage could be treated as more than an intriguing fragment from development.
