Valorant’s Guardian: A Powerful “Walkie-Shootie” Weapon

Sometimes we’re put to the task of experimenting in new video games. This time, Valorant, the new tactical first-person shooter released by Riot Games, has put us to the test to experiment with a couple of weapons. Well, today’s subject is the Guardian, which is a semi-automatic rifle.

Just as in any other shooter game, every weapon has it’s own pros and cons. Sometimes more significant caliber faces horrible stability (recoil), or a small caliber meets better stability (recoil). In this case, the Guardian that we’re talking about offers them both but also bring something different to the table.

We know that in many FPS games players are required to stay still to reach the maximum precision potential. For example, shooting while running and even walking may be very desperate and most likely won’t hit any of your desired aiming spots. But, in Valorant, that’s not a case with the Guardian.

The Guardian’s stability is entirely unrelated to the slow-walking, which means that the bullets and recoil remain somewhat the same as if standing in one spot. Not only is the Guardian a one-shot headshot weapon, but its mastery can reach higher levels of gameplay. If players learn how to walk and shoot, hence walkie-shootie, they may find the next way to dominate in Valorant (seen one guy doing it a couple of times in-game).

The first bullet always hits the center of your crosshair, while the followups (depend on how fast you shoot) have somewhat the same recoil pattern. This is not a case when running. To prove the walkie-shootie phenomenon is working, we went to Valorant’s practice range. For example, take a look at the video below:

Defining the meta will be crucial in the coming months, and I am personally really looking forward to seeing this weapon being put in action. We’ve seen multiple teams already preparing for the Valorant e-sport scene, so I guess upcoming tournaments will bring us to a conclusion. Yes, we know the Vandal and Phantom will probably be the most used weapons, but ruling out the Guardian this early would be just nonsense.

I've spent half of my life playing video games, ever since the competitive 1.6 era. Now I am happily married to Margarita Kicevski, and have two beautiful children. My goal is to deliver fresh news and updates, but most of the time I want to work on guides. Since I have rebooted this website, I am planning on making it huge. Just you wait!
