Riot Games has finally released Valorant on both consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S). The first-person shooter game is finally entering the living room. Some of us can grind ranks on gamepads, and I am honestly happy that it won’t include cross-play with PC.
After a short beta run back in June, the console version is now available in the US, Canada, Europe, Japan, and Brazil. It’s got everything you love about the PC version. All the gameplay, heroes, and abilities jump to the console without losing a step, and it doesn’t matter if you’re Phoenix main or love running around as Jett, you’re good.
Simply, Valorant wants to maintain competitive integrity, which explains why Valorant on PC won’t be getting Gamepad support. On the bright side, there’s cross-progression. All your skins, progression, and cosmetics will carry over between PC and console. So, if you’ve purchased something, you don’t need to be sad about starting from scratch.
PC and console players will get all the updates (content, balance patches, etc.) and other premium content simultaneously, keeping everyone on the same page. Having it available on two big consoles is pretty huge. I believe that tons of other surprising bits and pieces will also strengthen the competitive integrity. Having no Crossplay is a bit stupid, but it is what it is. You can find the official announcement below:
