Ubisoft Has Ghost Recon News Planned for August 6

The franchise update will coincide with Ghost Recon's 25th anniversary and may include details on a Wildlands Definitive Edition.

Ubisoft will share new Ghost Recon information on August 6, giving the franchise a dedicated update during its 25th anniversary. The announcement arrived as online discussion around the series continued to build.

The date was confirmed through the official Ghost Recon account on X, which said fans would receive news about the franchise on August 6.

What Could Ubisoft Announce?

One possible reveal is a Ghost Recon Wildlands Definitive Edition. Images circulating online have pointed to versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the reported package including 4K at 60 frames per second and a new mission.

Ubisoft could also provide information about the next mainline Ghost Recon project, which is known by the codename Project OVR. The game has spent several years in development and was scheduled to enter internal Alpha earlier in 2026. That milestone was missed, while some features were reportedly cut or moved to later plans to meet internal deadlines.

The current development target is a Beta build by November 2026. Ubisoft has not confirmed whether Project OVR will appear during the August 6 anniversary update, so the event may focus on Wildlands or cover more than one project.

Ghost Recon has plenty of history to draw from, but the anniversary presentation will show which part of the series Ubisoft wants to put in the spotlight. Tell us what you think the company will announce in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, and Instagram.
