Leaked internal meeting at Twitch revealed major employee concern regarding Adin Ross’s unbanning. This discussion unfolded between CEO Dan Clancy and an employee who expressed discontent over Ross’s reinstatement on the platform after a lengthy ban.
Initially banned in February 2023 for unspecified violations, Ross became a vocal supporter of Kick, but later sought to return to Twitch. His account was reinstated in March 2025, allowing him to save broadcasts for collaborations while still primarily streaming on Kick. Despite this positive turn for Ross, some Twitch employees have voiced strong opposition to his return.
According to reports from Nathan Grayson of Aftermath, during an all-hands meeting held around March 30, an employee directly confronted Clancy about the reasoning behind Ross’s unban. The staff member asked Clancy whether Ross’s reinstatement was based on genuine change or if it represented purely a business decision. They questioned, “What evidence did you evaluate that Adin Ross had reformed enough since his ban?”
The employee further stated their disagreement with this decision, claiming it could lead to harm within the community and signal acceptance of negativity often associated with Ross.
Clancy responded firmly, stating that this unban was not influenced by financial considerations but rather about offering second chances. “It’s about deciding when you can give someone a second chance – and then giving them a chance,” he affirmed. He reiterated that should Ross fail to meet Twitch’s guidelines post-reinstatement, action would be taken against him once more.
During his explanation, Clancy emphasized that bans were viewed as indefinite rather than permanent and shared insights into how decisions on bans are made internally at Twitch. He mentioned that there is always an expectation of potential behavioral change among users. Feedback from various sources suggested that there might be indications of improvement from Ross.
“We try to assess the likelihood that you will behave consistent with our guidelines,” he noted while addressing concerns over possible risks in his return.
This change towards reconsidering long-term bans represents a major movement in how services like Twitch engage with their communities. As Clancy pointed out, if behavior isn’t aligned with platform standards post-unban, individuals may face repercussions again sooner rather than later.
