Turok: Origins Will Support Co-Op for Up to 3 Players on Xbox Series X|S

The gamescom build focused on 3 distinct classes, quick missions, and a missile-equipped boss named Metal Maw.

Turok: Origins will bring a fast, arcade-like shooter formula to Xbox Series X|S, with a campaign that supports solo play or co-op for up to 3 players. Dinosaurs, aliens, futuristic weapons, and huge boss fights make up the core of an experience that keeps the action moving instead of burying it under layers of progression systems.

An Xbox Wire gamescom preview offered a look at the game through a single-player build. Origins takes place long before the first Turok, giving the franchise a new starting point while moving its dinosaur-hunting roots toward a more futuristic shooter design.

3 classes cover speed, defense, and range

Players choose between Cougar, Bison, and Raven before heading into a mission. Cougar focuses on speed, mobility, and close-range attacks. Bison takes the defensive role with large shields and the ability to absorb punishment. Raven favors distance and comes equipped with a bow that gives the class a satisfying long-range option.

Those roles should become even more useful when friends join the campaign. Abilities can slow enemies, create barriers, and open opportunities for better positioning, giving each character a clear job when a group is surrounded by dinosaurs or facing one of the game’s larger paleo bosses.

First-person view of Turok: Origins combat inside an alien temple

The preview build began with a portal sending players into a lush jungle filled with hostile creatures and enemy technology. Missions use a brisk sequence of objectives, such as clearing an area, destroying equipment, and pushing toward the boss encounter. Each task keeps the focus on combat while providing enough direction to give the shooting a purpose.

That structure also suits shorter sessions. Players can move through a mission without long stretches of wandering, then return for a longer run when they have more time. Co-op uses a drop-in, drop-out format, allowing friends to join or leave without forcing the group to restart the campaign.

Metal Maw brings the demo to a noisy finish

The mission ends with Metal Maw, a massive dinosaur fitted with missile launchers. The boss alternates between charging across the arena and firing rockets from a distance, forcing players to keep moving while searching for ammunition and health pickups.

Players face a large dinosaur in a dark cavern in Turok: Origins

It is the kind of encounter that gives Turok: Origins its arcade flavor. The setup is easy to understand, but the fight still demands attention as the arena fills with projectiles and a giant predator closes the distance. Carrying that pace across a full campaign will be one of the game’s biggest tests.

The broader Microsoft Store listing describes additional weapons such as plasma rifles, ray guns, snipers, bows, and shotguns. It also says players can extract DNA from fallen enemies and the environment to unlock powers that upgrade their suits, with missions taking them through jungles, ancient temples, wasteland canyons, and other planets.
