Towerborne, the cooperative side-scrolling action RPG from Stoic, leaves Xbox Game Preview and early access on February 26, 2026. The full 1.0 release will appear on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam and PlayStation 5, and it will be available on Game Pass (Premium and Ultimate).
The studio has rebuilt parts of the game that were designed around constant connectivity and changed the business model from free-to-play to a buy-once product that supports offline play alongside online co-op. That rework underpins the new launch build and the feature set arriving with the update.
Stoic also thanked its early access players for feedback, saying the game “would not be what it is without our community,” and noted that existing save data and items can be imported into the 1.0 release. Standard and Deluxe editions are priced at $24.99 and $29.99 respectively.
What to expect on February 26
The 1.0 update adds a complete narrative arc and a final showdown with a major antagonist, new side quests, and an overhauled Bounty Board. Combat and content changes include two new bosses plus new lieutenants and umbra enemies, a full rebalance and a new Brutal difficulty, a redesigned world map with a coastal biome, and fresh combat encounters and gear.
Players will get a new Forge system for modifying and re-rolling stats, additional abilities, multiple save slots, and the option to import characters and loot from the Game Preview build. Cosmetics are no longer gated behind purchases and are now earnable through gameplay. The update also adds new music by Austin Wintory and a wide range of quality-of-life fixes.
