Toby Fox Believes Deltarune Chapter 6 Can Arrive in 2027 Without Chapter 7
Fox described the next chapter as a shorter, more direct story and did not provide a specific month or day.

Deltarune Chapter 6 could arrive in 2027, according to Toby Fox’s Summer 2026 newsletter. Fox did not name a month, but he said he believed the team would be able to release the next chapter during that year.
The update gives fans a clearer window after Deltarune Chapter 5 launched without revealing when Chapter 6 would follow. Chapters 3 and 4 were released as a pair, while Chapter 1 originally arrived in 2018, so the lack of a date had left the next release unclear.
Fox also described Chapter 5 as the final major piece of setup before Deltarune begins addressing its central mysteries. He wrote that, with the chapter’s “last big burst of craziness” out of the way, there would be “no more wacky silly adventures.” Chapters 6 and 7 will instead focus more directly on the unanswered questions and story points that have been building since the game began.
Chapter 7 will not be bundled with Chapter 6
Fox also addressed a fan theory about the next two chapters. Some players thought Chapter 6 would ship alongside Chapter 7 because Chapters 3 and 4 arrived together, and because the Weird Route ending mentions a Chapter 7 Route B. Fox confirmed that Chapter 6 will not be released as a bundle with Chapter 7.
For players following the Weird Route, that means the story will stop after Chapter 6 until the later chapter is ready. Fox did not share a release window for Chapter 7, so the newsletter only offers a 2027 window for the upcoming chapter.
A shorter, more direct Chapter 6
Fox described Chapter 6 as a shorter and more straightforward story than Chapter 5. The chapter will focus on one part of the wider story, meaning some subjects will remain untouched for now. Fox said at least one mystery will receive an explanation in Chapter 6, although he did not reveal which one.
Fox also addressed concerns that the chapters might feel too brief as Deltarune approaches its ending. He suggested that the pacing should make more sense by the end of Chapter 7.
Development on Chapter 6 has moved into a later stage. Fox said he recently finished writing several sequences from the chapter’s final third and rearranged its rooms to fit the new structure. Once those changes are finished, the team should be able to play through a rough draft from beginning to end, provided the chapter does not require major restructuring.
The remaining work mainly includes developing the chapter’s boss and polishing its cutscenes. Chapter 6 will not launch together with Chapter 7, so the conclusion of Deltarune will continue to arrive in separate installments.

The newsletter also answered a smaller Chapter 5 question. The “Jarona” voice clip associated with Flowery was not a reference to My Sharona by The Knack. Fox said it came from a phrase his older brother used during childhood anime-style attack impressions.
Chapter 6 now has a 2027 release window, but Chapter 7 will arrive separately. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, and Instagram.
