Throne and Liberty Update 3.17.0 downtime will begin at 10:30 p.m. PT (6:30 a.m. UTC) on January 14 and is expected to last about four hours. The patch activates the Arkeum Invasion event through January 28 and introduces broad balance changes that alter how Bonus Damage and Damage Reduction interact across many skills, masteries, and equipment effects.
The headline event is Arkeum Invasion, a repeating field event that drops new rewards including the Shapeshift Morph gesture and Chaos Prisms. The update also doubles Damage Reduction and Bonus Damage values coming from armor sets, weapon skill effects, food buffs, artifacts, mastery nodes, and stat achievement effects. At the same time many skills and specializations that generate additional projectiles or hits are explicitly made immune to Bonus Damage and Damage Reduction, shifting how multi-hit builds scale.
Battlegrounds receive a rework to the Indomitable Spirit buff so that the losing team gains scaling attack and defense bonuses based on score deficit. New CC Resistance adjustments apply when interacting with Control Stones, and those resistances scale with the Indomitable Spirit tier. Miscellaneous quality of life fixes include new UI shortcuts, housing items, and a handful of bug fixes for raids, cosmetics, and achievements.

Arkeum Invasion Event
- Fight back invaders from the Arkeum Legion for unique rewards including a new gesture, Shapeshift Morph, and Chaos Prisms after maintenance through January 28. Remember to exchange your event currency with special NPCs in town to reap your hard-earned spoils of war.
- The Arkeum Invasion field event will spawn 3x per day on weekdays and 4x per day on weekends, across multiple zones.
- Monday – Friday (UTC): 01:30, 12:30, 17:30.
- Saturday and Sunday (UTC): 01:30, 12:30, 17:30, 21:30.
Balance Changes
- Various Skills, Specializations, and Masteries that result in additional projectiles/hits will no longer apply Bonus Damage, or have their incoming damage reduced by Damage Reduction. See a list of everything impacted below.
- Damage Reduction and Bonus Damage from all Armor Set effects, Weapon Skill effects, Food buffs, Artifacts, Mastery nodes, and Stat Achievement effects have been doubled.
Sword and Shield
- Stalwart Bastion: Increased Damage Reduction from 103 to 123 and the Front Damage Reduction from 20 to 24.
- Controlling Rake: Increased Damage Reduction when hit from behind from 25 to 50.
- Counter Barrier: Decreased damage dealt from 250% of the players Damage Reduction to 125%.
- Spectrum of Agony: Bonus Damage and Damage Reduction no longer affect damage dealt.
- Mastery: Roar Amplifier is no longer affected by Bonus Damage or Damage Reduction.
Greatsword
- DaVinci’s Courage: Increased Damage Reduction granted by the respective Specialization from 25 to 30 and Front Damage Reduction from 10 to 12.
- Devastating Tornado: The Additional Damage Specialization is no longer affected by Bonus Damage or Damage Reduction.
- Devastating Tornado: Fixed an issue causing players to receive the Bind: Icebound effect upon reaching 11 Weaken: Frost stacks instead of 10 while the Ice Tornado Specialization was active.
- Blood Devotion: Fixed an issue causing the Damage Reduction value to display as 40% even while the Damage Transfer Increase Specialization was inactive.
Longbow
- Devoted Shield: Increased Damage Reduction from 50 to 60.
- Flash Arrow: Fixed an issue causing the AoE size of the skill preview to not match the actual size of the skill’s effect while the Range Increase Specialization was active.
- Roxie’s Arrowhead: Bonus Damage and Damage Reduction no longer affect damage dealt.
- Mastery: Roxie’s Arrow Storm is no longer affected by Bonus Damage or Damage Reduction.
Crossbows
- Nature’s Power: Increased Bonus Damage from 26 to 58 and Skill Damage Boost from 19 to 25.
- Piercing Strike: Increased Bonus Damage from 13 to 36.
- Nimble Leap: Fixed an issue causing the Whirlpool area to not last for the full duration while the respective Specialization was active.
- Explosive Trap: Fixed an issue causing the trap to not last for a full 10s while the Duration Increased Specialization was active.
- Recoil Shot: Fixed an issue causing the Offhand Weapon Attack Increase Specialization to not grant the described benefit.
- Recoil Shot: Fixed an issue causing twice as many Gale stacks to be applied than expected while both the Gale and Wave Shot Specializations were active.
- Mother Nature’s Protest: Fixed an issue causing a 30% Movement Speed debuff to be applied while the Frost Shot Specialization was active instead of 10%.
- Mother Nature’s Protest: Fixed an issue causing the additional damage from the Lightning Shot Specialization to not transfer to another enemy when the target has a Frost debuff applied by the Greatsword’s DaVinci’s Chill or Ice Tornado skills.
- Mother Nature’s Protest: Bonus Damage and Damage Reduction no longer affect damage dealt.
- Mortal Mark: Bonus Damage and Damage Reduction no longer affect damage dealt.
Orb
- Protective Satellite Summon: Removed the 50% Shield Health boost when used on party members with the satellite effect.
- Protective Satellite Summon: Added a new effect increasing Distortion Veil’s Shield Health by 20% for each orb in range.
- Stellar Dash: Increased Damage Reduction from each stack of the Pierce Damage Specialization from 20 to 40.
- Stellar Dash: Bonus Damage and Damage Reduction no longer affect damage dealt.
- Stellar Echo: Bonus Damage and Damage Reduction no longer affect damage dealt.
- Rift Fracture: Bonus Damage and Damage Reduction no longer affect damage dealt.
- Summon Satellite: The Basic Attack Effect is no longer affected by Bonus Damage or Damage Reduction.
Daggers
- Cleaving Moonlight: The Additional Damage Specialization is no longer affected by Bonus Damage or Damage Reduction.
- Umbral Spirit / Thunder Spirit: Bonus Damage and Damage Reduction no longer affect damage dealt.
- Mastery: Venomous Edge is no longer affected by Bonus Damage or Damage Reduction.
Staff
- Inner Peace: Direction-specific stats are no longer considered while the Thunder’s Blessing Specialization is active.
- Mastery: Flame Discipline is no longer affected by Bonus Damage or Damage Reduction.
Wand
- Vampiric Contract: Fixed an issue causing the skill effect to not trigger on Staff and Orb Basic Attacks.
- Mastery: Fixed an issue causing damage from Slothful Cage to only last for 3s instead of 5s while the Dark Apostasy Rare Tactics Achievement Effect was active.
- Mastery: Direction-specific stats are no longer considered when using Slothful Cage while the Dark Apostasy is active.
- Mastery: Abyssal Burst is no longer affected by Bonus Damage or Damage Reduction.
Spear
- Mortal Wrath: Bonus Damage and Damage Reduction no longer affect damage dealt.
- Bloodleech Aura: Direction-specific stats are no longer considered when using the skill.
Mastery
- Falling Flower: Fixed an issue causing some on-hit skill effects to be triggered multiple times when damage was applied.
- Lightning Speed: Bonus Damage and Damage Reduction no longer affect damage dealt.
Equipment
- Tevent’s Fangs of Fury / Tevent’s Inferno Fangs: Added a 10 second cooldown to the Tevent’s Furious Rage weapon skill.
- Flashfire Fanatic: Added an “on attack” trigger condition to the Endurance reduction 4-set effect causing it to apply for 3s.
- Lucien’s Repeaters of Termination: The Silver Reaper’s Soul Harvest Weapon Skill is no longer affected by Bonus Damage or Damage Reduction.
- Akman’s Bloodletting Crossbows: The Akman’s Fragment Weapon Skill is no longer affected by Bonus Damage or Damage Reduction.
- Luminous Longbow of the Abyss: The Stealthy Arrowhead Weapon Skill is no longer affected by Bonus Damage or Damage Reduction.
- Tevent’s Grasp of Withering: Adjusted the Tevent’s Hunger weapon skill description to state that it deals 100% increased damage against monsters.
- Treacherous Tome of the Abyss: Fixed an issue causing the shield effect granted by the Spectral Defense Rare Defense Achievement Mastery Effect to not spread to allies when using the Blessed Haze weapon skill.
- Reckless Repeaters of the Abyss: Updated the Acidic Poison Weapon Skill description to state that the Weaken: Poison effect only stacks up to 10 times.
- Wrap of Uncanny Nimbleness: Fixed an issue causing the item to state it grants Heavy Attack Damage Resistance rather than Critical Damage Resistance.
Battlegrounds
- The Indomitable Spirit buff granted to the losing team now scales based on how much they are losing by:
- 4,000 points or more ~ Below 6,000 points: Attack Power +15%, Damage Taken -10%.
- 6,000 points or more ~ Below 10,000 points: Attack Power +20%, Damage Taken -15%
- 10,000 points or more ~ Below 15,000 points: Attack Power +25%, Damage Taken -20%.
- 15,000 points or more ~ Below 25,000 points: Attack Power +30%, Damage Taken -20%, HP +15%.
- 25,000 points or more: Attack Power +35%, Damage Taken -20%, HP +30%, Movement Speed +15%.
- The score difference will be checked every 2 minutes for the buff to be updated.
- CC Resistances will now be changed when interacting with a Control Stone, also scaling with the Indomitable Spirit buff:
- No Buff: All CC Resistances -40%.
- Tier 1 Buff: All CC Resistances -30%.
- Tier 2 Buff: All CC Resistances -20%.
- Tier 3 Buff: All CC Resistances -10%.
- Tier 4 Buff: All CC Resistances +20%.
- Tier 5 Buff: All CC Resistances +30%.
General
- Settings:
- Added settings to display equipped weapons in place of a guild icon within player nameplates.
- Added a shortcut to cycle through the equipped Stellarite type.
- Added a new shortcut to open the Vanguard List.
- Skill Specialization: Fixed an issue allowing more than 100 Skill Specialization points to be allocated in some rare cases. Characters with more that 100 points allocated will have their Skill Specializations reset upon logging in.
- Housing: Added Tevent table, chair, bed, and lamp furniture pieces.
- Character Card:
- Fixed an issue causing the incorrect weapons to occasionally be shown in player’s Character Cards and on Scoreboards.
- Fixed an issue causing the Total Housing Rating to appear as 0 when viewing your own Character Card.
- Cosmetics: Fixed an issue causing the Kowazan’s Daggers of the Blood Moon to appear with white textures.
- Achievements: Fixed various Gathering-related Achievements which weren’t tracking progress correctly.
- Storage: Fixed an issue preventing items from being deleted from Storage after its expiration date has passed.
- Codex: Fixed an issue preventing the Tiny Friend’s Swimming Practice Exploration Codex quest from being started.
- Morphs:
- Fixed an issue causing the designated Special Morph to be reset upon relaunching the game.
- Fixed an issue causing players to suddenly drop to the ground when gliding long distances.
- Raids: Fixed an issue preventing players from obtaining rewards when dying during Calanthia’s first phase on the Difficult and Nightmare difficulties.
- Map: Fixed an issue causing Wild Red, Blue, and Yellow Herb map indicators to not be displayed.
