The PS3 and PS Vita storefronts are heading for shutdown
Sony said PS3 store access will end first in parts of Latin America and the Middle East before both legacy storefronts close in all other regions in July 2027.
Sony said it will close the PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita, ending new digital purchases on the two legacy systems in a staggered rollout that starts in 2026 and wraps up worldwide in July 2027.
According to the update, PlayStation Store access on PS3 will end first in Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua in August 2026. Additional Latin American and Middle Eastern countries will follow in late 2026, while all other regions will lose access to both the PS3 and PS Vita stores in July 2027.
Even after those closures, Sony said players will still be able to download content they already bought for the foreseeable future. The company pointed to updated payment processing standards and other storefront requirements as the reason the older hardware can no longer keep up.
