Arcadia’s bleeding, and whoever planted the skip drives isn’t sending a friendly apology letter. The Outer Worlds 2 is live today on consoles and PC, putting you back in the role of an Earth Directorate agent trying to figure out which faction’s plan will end in polite murder and which will literally end the colony.
The Outer Worlds 2 brings back the Perks and Flaws system that rewards strange builds and worse decisions, and it leans hard on branching consequences so no two runs should feel identical. The game is available now for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, ROG Xbox Ally handhelds, Battle.net, Steam, and PlayStation 5. It is an Xbox Play Anywhere title and available day one with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
Factions on Arcadia all have answers, and most of those answers involve bolstering their own power. The Order of the Ascendant wants to study the rifts, Auntie’s Choice sees profit, and the Protectorate seeks to close ranks and call it stability. Your job is to pick a side, identify faults in your commander, and watch the system bend to your choices.
Those who want extras can buy the Premium Edition or Premium Edition Upgrade, which include the Moon Man’s Corporate Appreciation Prize Pack, a digital artbook, the soundtrack, and an Expansion Pass with two forthcoming story add‑ons. For a plain breakdown of what’s included, see our guide to what comes with the Premium Edition. Price chatter followed the launch window earlier this year, and Microsoft reversed an $80 decision for this release, setting the game at $70. For context on that change, see our coverage of Microsoft’s price reversal to $70.
We previously covered the release schedule and editions while the title was still on the run-up; that background is handy if you want edition comparisons, trailers, and the timeline of announcements. See our full roundup of The Outer Worlds 2 release details for more. Expect a party of companions, new weapons, and the same brand of dark humor and political nonsense Obsidian is known for. The first expansion content is slated to arrive after launch for players who pick up the Expansion Pass, and the Premium Edition buyers get early access bonuses like Moon Man cosmetics.
Good luck out there, Commander. Arcadia won’t fix itself and there’s a nonzero chance a rift will do something dramatic to your ship’s interior decor. Please leave your thoughts and first impressions below, and follow our coverage on X, Bluesky, and YouTube.
