The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria has rolled out Patch 1.5.3, a minor update aimed at squashing lingering bugs from the previous 1.5.2 release and the Orc Hunter Pack. While it’s not a massive overhaul, these fixes will smooth out frustrating crashes and odd loot drops that have nagged players.
Here’s the rundown: the patch improves how players find the Fourth Fragment of Durin’s Axe in the campaign, which should help those who felt stuck hunting it. There was a nasty crash triggered when a host with the Orc Hunter DLC built Troll Hide furniture, but some joining players didn’t own the DLC—yikes, that’s now fixed. Another rare crash when joining a host game also got patched.
Localization got some love, too. Previously, non-English text mistakenly referenced Beorn’s Lodge DLC content instead of the Orc Hunter DLC. That’s corrected now, so no more confusion about what’s included.
Loot-wise, wood dropped incorrectly when attacking enemies, which has been removed. However, ironwood still drops in these cases, which the developers flagged as a known issue to be sorted in a future patch. So, if you’re farming ironwood by accident, enjoy it while it lasts…

It’s a tidy patch that quietly fixes some rough edges, which is always appreciated in a game that’s still expanding its world and player base. Ever had that crash with the Troll Hide furniture or been confused by DLC text? Now those issues are history. But what about that ironwood loot? Will it get fixed soon, or are we stuck with this odd quirk for a while? Only time will tell.
