The Game Awards is expanding its broadcast footprint and will stream on Prime Video for the first time on December 11, while continuing its long-running presence on Twitch. The show will come from Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater and is scheduled between 5 – 8 pm PT, 8 – 11 pm ET.
The 2025 program will include world premieres, announcements, and live performances, and will continue to host its esports awards for Best Esports Game, Best Esports Athlete, and Best Esports Team. Geoff Keighley framed Prime Video as a fitting partner given recent and upcoming game adaptations on the platform. Twitch will carry a higher-fidelity 2K feed for the first time. Thousands of creators will be able to co-stream, and viewers who watch 30 minutes or more will be eligible for Twitch Drops. Details on specific rewards will be confirmed closer to the show.
Amazon is also relaunching a dedicated shop with deals on games, hardware, and accessories running through December 31. During the live program Prime members can expect limited time offers tied to nominated titles and new releases that run for up to 24 hours while supplies last. Esports categories were a visible part of last year’s show. In 2024, League of Legends won Best Esports Game, Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok won Best Esports Athlete, and T1 won Best Esports Team. The Game Awards said its 2024 edition reached more than 154 million livestreams across platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, X, and TikTok, so adding Prime Video extends the event’s mainstream reach.
This year, the higher-fidelity Twitch stream and Drops campaign are expected to help drive engagement around the competitive awards and related announcements. Esports-specific activations were not enumerated in the announcement, but creators and teams looking to amplify their presence have more channels to work with during the show.
Questions about exact Twitch Drop rewards and any bespoke esports segments remain open and will be answered in the lead-up to the event. The show historically mixes premieres with awards and performances, so esports fans should watch both the broadcast and creator co-streams to capture all the activity.
