The First Descendant Patch 1.3.1 Brings Performance Fixes and Quality-of-Life Tweaks

Patch 1.3.1 improves performance, rebalances challenges, fixes bugs, and updates UI on Steam, Xbox, and PS5.

The First Descendant just got a maintenance-free update with Patch 1.3.1, preparing to smooth out gameplay and fix a slew of issues across multiple platforms. If you’ve been feeling stuttering or confusing quest texts, this patch tries to clear that up while tweaking some gameplay elements and UI details.

Optimizations hit the appearance and destruction of Axion Assault Ships, plus Ines’s skill and item drop effects, cutting down on those annoying in-game hiccups. Weather and time now move faster in the Axion Plains, letting players see more dynamic battlefield conditions instead of staring at the same sky forever. The Boost Up Event screen got a more detailed guide, and the junk filter options automatically adjust when activating boosts, which should save some clicks.

Three new Social Tags landed in the Party menu: Orca, Vortex, and Voltia, giving players a bit more flair. Weapon Cores are now rewards for tougher content, like Infiltration Operation: Hard 400% and Sigma Sector missions on Normal and High-risk difficulties. Battle Pass Daily Challenges got a rebalance too, cutting down the grind for monster defeats, vault openings, squad rescues, commander kills, and outpost completions. A goal-setting guide was added to the Quest UI for better clarity on certain quests.

Text changes swapped out “Dimensional Energy Stabilization” for “Unstable Dimension Zone” and tweaked “Dimensional Breach” to “Dimensional Breach Info” everywhere. Weapon modules got some love: Battering Ram damage doubled and now reduces defense, while Arche Leak’s MP cost per hit dropped slightly.

Bug fixes are a big chunk here. A crash occurred when loading a completed Intercept Battle map while entering Wall Crasher. Reactor drops now match the correct types in specific content zones. The Boost Event screen will finally pop up reliably on first login, and allies can join Invasion Dungeons like White-night Gulch and Echo Swamp after battle starts. Awards and quest objectives now track correctly, and annoying visual bugs like death animations in midair or missing shell effects on monsters have been fixed.

Weapon issues were addressed, including a weird blocking motion on the Magnus AA and misleading red text on beneficial weapon ability changes. UI improvements include clearer Wall Crasher acquisition text, fixed Battle Pass reward popups, and corrected controller button assignments. Sound bugs got patched as well, no more lingering Operator voices or misplaced immunity sounds, plus a new waypoint marking sound effect.

On the PS5 Pro, a crash triggered by colliding with supplies with ray tracing enabled was fixed. Fellow patterns and skins now stick after reconnecting, and various quest and inventory glitches were corrected. Even Enzo’s voice no longer plays when it shouldn’t. The patch wraps up with fixes to prevent players from dying immediately after interacting with certain drones and tidies up dismantled item displays.

It’s a solid patch that tackles a lot of rough edges and odd behaviors. If you’re still plugging away in The First Descendant, it’s worth hopping back in to see how it feels now. Curious what you think about the faster weather cycles or the Battle Pass adjustments? speak yourself in the comments below and let’s talk.

I am Angel, and until next time, see you around!
