According to Ubisoft, today’s maintenance downtime is approximately 4.5 hours and starts now. That’s a fair bit longer than the three-hour maintenance windows players have seen more often.

The developer says the update is server-side. Ubisoft added that the update “includes backend infrastructure improvements that won’t be visible to players,” so you shouldn’t see gameplay-related changes or need to download a patch.
There wasn’t a prior announcement for this particular window, so some players may be surprised when servers go down without the usual heads-up. If anything about the outage changes, we’ll update readers.
