The Battle of Olympus, the 1988 NES side-scrolling platformer, will enter Steam Early Access in January 2027 with its original programmer and artist rebuilding the game together.
Yukio Horimoto handled programming while Reiko Oshida created the art for the original release. The two were romantically involved during development but were not married yet, according to Time Extension’s account. Oshida is now Reiko Horimoto.
In an earlier VG247 interview, Horimoto explained that the couple built the game around their shared interest in Greek mythology. The result also drew heavily from The Legend of Zelda II, including the hero’s attack, crouch, and jump actions.

Infinity Co is rebuilding the NES original
The reformed Infinity Co is handling the remake, with Yukio and Reiko Horimoto personally recreating the code and redrawing the pixel art. The team also plans to adjust the game for current PC players without losing the original’s atmosphere, spirit, or challenge.
The Steam page describes the project as a “handcrafted Steam remake.” It also identifies the release as the couple’s “final major game product,” suggesting that The Battle of Olympus will serve as their last major development project.
The Horimotos have continued making games since the NES era, including the fashion model simulation titles Model Debut #nicola and its sequel, released in 2019 and 2021. Their return to The Battle of Olympus gives the pair a chance to revisit the game that brought their creative partnership together before stepping away from game development.
