The Alters has a stability-focused update from 11 bit studios in Patch 1.3.0, addressing quest, rendering and crash problems. Players reported stuck dialogues, black screens, and achievement unlock issues. The fixes should stop runs from stalling and make mid- and late-game playthroughs less frustrating.
The update targets a clutch list of story and quest problems, fixing several edge-case scenarios that could block progress. Reported fixes include ACT2 – Disease rebellion not properly cancelling after an MRI scan, Alters refusing to work if a module where Radiation Phobia started is removed, Alter Rebellion dialogue getting stuck, and Miner deaths in the Workshop being treated as alive until observed. Full details are available on Patch 1.3.0. The changelog also calls out several renderer and UI problems players have been seeing.
The patch also addresses a broader range of issues outside of quests, including crashes and visual hiccups. Fixes include black screens after ACT2 or Interlude in specific scenarios, ACT3 pathing problems where Alters fail to reach the Sarcophagus on long routes, and an achievement that only unlocks after opening Lessons Learned. Other items address controller-related crashes, landscape quality drops in 4K when Texture Quality is set to High or Ultra, and a range of minor performance, collision, and audio issues.
