The timing is what has people talking. Sony announced the showcase earlier than it usually does, which makes the clock feel a little more pointed than a standard reminder.
That reading has only gotten stronger on social media. A post from @Genki_JPN on May 30, 2026, said PlayStation had put a countdown live for the June 2 event, and @CabooseEK wrote on May 31, 2026, that the show would run for more than 60 minutes and stream in select theatres.
None of that proves a monster showcase is coming, but it does explain why so many PS5 players are watching the calendar closely. Even a simple timer can stir plenty of noise when the next State of Play is only a day away.
