`Bandai Namco has just released Title Update 2.00 and Season 2 for Tekken 8 and shared its detailed patch notes. This update introduces significant changes that affect nearly all characters, so let’s break down the essential details.
Title Update 2.00 overhauls the game’s Ranked System. As the devs noted, they have changed Matchmaking so players can battle others with a closer skill level. This means that Matchmaking will no longer take into account your Tekken Prowess. Instead, it will now consider the rank of the character currently in use and the player’s highest rank among all used characters.
Patch 2.00 also changes the Point Gain/Loss System. The higher your opponent’s rank is, the more points you will earn for a win. also, the lower your opponent’s rank is, the more points you will lose for a defeat.
The big meat of Update 2.00 is the tweaks and changes the devs have done to the entire roster. You can find all of the changes here.
From what I could see, the most broken characters – like King, Alissa, or Dragunov – have not received any major nerfs. Instead, new moves and adjustments have been made to Heat Engagers to create more balanced gameplay.
Yeah you might as well plug if you see paul.
You can literally do this online. It is guaranteed.
(Only did it in quick match because I'm not abusing this bug in ranked only showing that it's not a training bug.)#T8_report #t8_paul #Tekken https://t.co/lwh19Ku73q pic.twitter.com/sEm64QZgmE

This release brought an amusing development: players quickly uncovered a bug that allows Paul to hit opponents while they’re blocking! No joke—Paul has become incredibly powerful due to a simple combo that works even against defenders.
This kind of issue isn’t surprising, given such extensive updates are usually prone to bugs surfacing quickly after launch. Hopefully, Tekken devs can resolve these issues swiftly—within days rather than weeks would be ideal.
I’m not concerned about adjustments regarding Hwoarang’s KI Charge since it’s rarely part of my play style. However, reports suggest there aren’t many nerfs across most other characters; instead, we see buffs and new moves being introduced across various fighters.
I would prefer if developers balanced existing moves first before adding new ones, though. It feels safer for both casual players and competitive gamers when everything feels fairer overall without introducing fresh chaos on top of pre-existing imbalances already at play within T8.
If you’re playing on Steam, this update should download automatically the next time you launch its client! Don’t forget—you can check out character changes via their official website, which is linked above!
