It’s hard to believe that Dying Light has been a part of our gaming lives for a decade. In 2015, Techland delivered a fresh twist on the zombie genre that had us all parkouring over rooftops while evading hordes of the undead. As they celebrate this milestone, fans can look forward to what’s next in store for this beloved franchise.
The festivities kick off today with an event showcasing four weeks of entertainment across both Dying Light titles. It’s perfect timing since many players are still buzzing about Dying Light 2: Stay Human, which dropped in February 2022 and expanded the universe further.
In a press release, Techland shared:
At the same time we’re celebrating the 10th anniversary of Dying Light, we are already hard at work on the next era of the franchise.
Our recent major rebrand aims to establish the franchise as the ultimate zombie experience across all future projects.
This summer, brace yourself for Dying Light: The Beast, a standalone title featuring Kyle Crane, yes, he’s back! I enjoyed chatting with Roger Craig Smith—the voice behind Crane, at Gamescom 2024. He was just as pumped about returning after a ten-year hiatus from this iconic role.
As part of their anniversary celebration, there’s good news for players: Dying Light 2: Stay Human is seeing discounts like never before. If you still hold onto your copy of the original game from 2015, expect some free goodies, a skin bundle and a ‘hypermode’ event will drop soon. And that’s just scratching the surface; special in-game events like Low Gravity and Super Crane will bring back fan-favorite modes!
The week starting February 19 looks particularly exciting as Dying Light 2 will permanently introduce Tower Raid mode along with a special ‘Light up the Night’ livestream hosted by Techland.
The party doesn’t stop there!
This spring promises major updates for Dying Light 2: Stay Human. Summer brings fresh events tailored for players looking to mix things up. When fall rolls around, expect an update alongside a limited-time Halloween celebration. As we wrap up the year, Winter Tales will make its return!
Here is a glimpse into what players can expect throughout this busy year:
- Co-op gameplay and matchmaking updates
- New Tower Raid characters
- New firearms and melee weapons
- Community map support
- Prologue improvements
- Free outfits and gear
- Technical and graphical improvements
This whirlwind schedule shows that Techland isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The press release wrapped up with an optimistic note:
Our plans to grow the franchise don’t stop at Dying Light: The Beast. We’ll continue the series with multiple unannounced projects and will also go beyond video games with new board games, exclusive merchandise, original webcomic series and more on the horizon. Our goal is to bring the world of Dying Light to even more people.
I don’t know about you all, but I’m excited about these developments… What do you think about these upcoming changes?
