Team Fortress 2’s Smissmas 2025 arrived with a big dose of holiday cheer, adding six community maps, three community taunts, 20 community-made unusual effects, and a major expansion of which weapons can be given the Festivizer treatment. The new community maps are Nutcracker, Sidewinder, Abbey, Winter Ridge, Matterhorn, and Gavle. Valve noted that Gavle is pronounced “yeah-vleh.” Players will find new snowy arenas across those maps when joining matches during the event, which runs through Wednesday January 7, 2026.
One of the important changes for players who like to deck out their loadouts is the increase in festivizable weapons. Valve and the community added “lots of weapons” to the Festivizer list, meaning the majority of TF2’s arsenal can now be wrapped in Christmas lights. Even the Wrap Assassin is now eligible for festival styling. Festivizers appear as bonus drops from Winter 2025 Cosmetic cases and are also available on the marketplace. Their price rose quickly after the update went live, so players who want a specific festive skin may want to pick one up sooner rather than later.
The Smissmas update also included three community-contributed taunts named The Critical Fail, Dead Mann’s Drink, and Chairholder, plus 20 community-created unusual effects split between 11 hats and nine taunts. Valve shipped a broad set of bug fixes and tweaks alongside the event, including a fix for Detonator jumps not being considered self-damage jumps so detjumping during Quick-Fix Ubers should now work as intended. The patch continued the cadence of recent small fixes and map adjustments already applied earlier in the year via prior updates like the map tweaks and bug fixes posts.
For players watching the broader TF2 scene, a recent datamine suggested a possible Source 2 port, which would open the door for bigger technical changes down the line. Meanwhile, community mod Team Fortress 2 Classified is scheduled for the end of January 2026 and promises a new VIP mode class, weapon tweaks including the Nail Gun, and larger multi-team maps with GRN and YLW factions.
Players interested in the event should jump into matches, try the new community maps, and check Winter 2025 Cosmetic cases for Festivizers while prices are still fluctuating. Share thoughts on Team Fortress 2 Smissmas 2025 and follow updates on X, Bluesky, and YouTube.
