Tales of Berseria is getting a remaster for modern platforms, and it arrives February 27. Bandai Namco says the update will add gameplay tweaks and quality of life features while making the game available on Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch as well as PS5 and PC.
The announcement is part of the publisher’s ongoing Tales Remaster Project. Fans reacted with surprise because Berseria originally launched in 2016 and is already playable on PC and PS5 through storefront versions. Many players pointed out that several much older entries in the Tales catalogue remain without modern ports or remasters. Part of the technical context was explained recently by Tales series producer Yusuke Tomizawa, who said remastering older titles can be difficult when source code and assets are hard to locate. That admission helps explain why Bandai Namco might prioritize some entries over others even when the choice looks odd on paper.
There is one practical caveat for Switch owners. Nintendo’s store listing notes the remaster will not be compatible with Switch 2 due to problems with game progression. The Switch listing also makes the Switch build a separate point of interest for players who expected broad forward compatibility. The remaster page on Bandai Namco’s site frames the release as a refreshed version of a memorable series entry, with updated gameplay and quality-of-life improvements. The publisher has opened preorders and promotional material ahead of the February 27 launch.

If you care about which Tales games get updated next, the developer’s comment about missing source code is key. It suggests the order of remasters may be driven by how recoverable the original project files are, rather than age alone.
