After a brief last-minute delay, System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster will arrive on PS5 and PS4 this July. Fans waiting for the classic sci-fi horror experience on Sony’s consoles won’t have to wait much longer.
The remaster was initially scheduled for late June but got pushed back just days before release. Luckily, the new date is locked in for July 10, 2025. Nightdive Studios, known for their work on remasters, is handling this project. They’ve stayed true to the original game’s vibe while adding some current touches. Expect co-op multiplayer, up to 120 frames per second performance, and visual plus quality-of-life improvements. Controller support has been optimized, too, which is great news for console players.
The PC version has been winning praise, so fingers crossed the PlayStation versions deliver the same solid experience. I’m a bit curious about how the controls will feel with the new tweaks. What about you? Will you be jumping back into this cult classic on PS5 or PS4? Here’s the trailer to get you hyped (ignore the old release date at the end):
