Com2uS has rolled out the v8.7.3 update for Summoners War on Steam, introducing fresh ways to handle your Siege Battle runes, alongside skill balance tweaks and various quality-of-life changes. This patch might disrupt how you prep your monsters for the battlefield, especially if Siege Battle is your jam.
Update Schedule and Access Notes
The update auto-installs on Steam, but here’s a heads up: if you’re logged in when it starts, the game might crash unexpectedly. Best to finish up in the Village and save your progress before the update hits.
Server | Update Time |
---|---|
Global | 12:45 AM PDT |
Europe | 9:45 AM CEST |
Asia | 3:30 PM TST |
Korea | 4:00 PM KST |
Japan | 4:30 PM JST |
China | 3:30 PM CST |
Also, you won’t be able to enter World Arena, Arena Interserver Battle, and World Guild Battle from 12:00 AM to 12:45 AM PDT, but other content remains playable during that window.
What’s New in v8.7.3?
Skill Balance Patch
The update includes a skill balance patch. For detailed info, check the official notice here. It’s the usual tweaking that might make some monsters more viable or change how you build your teams.
Siege Battle Exclusive Rune/Artifact Settings
The game now lets you equip and manage runes and artifacts specifically for Siege Battle. This means you can fine-tune your monsters’ loadouts for Siege without messing with their setups in other modes.
The new [Siege Battle > Monster] menu lets you register up to 50 favorite monsters for Siege Battle, making rune management smoother. You can switch and remove runes or artifacts without spending Mana Stones, though selling runes or grindstones is still off-limits.
You can upgrade or enchant runes here, and those changes will affect the original runes. Also, loading runes/artifacts from other monsters now respects Siege Battle settings.
Besides, you can load default or World Arena runes into your Siege Battle rune management. After the first time you enter Siege Battle post-update, your monsters’ rune setups will sync to this new system and be managed separately from other content.
Monster decks saved under Manage Monster Deck will also be separated for Siege Battle, so changes there won’t affect your World Guild or Guild Rival Battle decks.
Currently, Siege Battle stats show your monster’s default rune/artifact info, but this will switch to the Siege Battle-specific setup in a future update.
Siege Battle Improvements
- When multiple guild members attack the same formation and one succeeds, the rest are marked as having lost, giving defense victory points to the formation’s owner. These results are logged, and failed attackers don’t gain Siege Battle EXP.
- A pop-up now warns you if you try to attack a formation you’ve already reserved.
- A new UI shows your guild’s defense decks for successful defenses under Info > Defense.
Other Changes
- Friend list now displays online friends’ channel number and language (in Global, Europe, and Asia servers).
- Auto-joined chat channels based on language increased from 500 to 9999 (Global, Europe, Asia).
- Blocked player limit doubled from 50 to 100. You can manage your block list under Settings > Options > Block List.
- Visual effects for Hand of Reincarnation Shadowcaster in Shadow’s Protection state improved.
- A new button linking to Arena help topics added on the Arena menu screen.
- Option to receive vibration notifications when a World Arena Ranking Battle match is found added under Settings > Options > Other Settings.
New Monster Transmogrifications
Three new transmogrifications have been added: Deep Sea Spear Sea Emperor, Nature Protector Beast Rider, and Sea Tribe Gladiatrix.
Bug Fixes
- In some languages, monster names in the mini info window no longer appear out of place.
- Fixed an issue where defense decks disappeared when re-battling a defense deck registered in Guild Battle Research under certain conditions.
Have you already tried the new Siege Battle rune system? What do you think about splitting rune setups by game mode? Drop your thoughts and experiences in the comments below — I’m curious if this makes Siege Battle more strategic or just extra busy.
