Stray Dog: Nobody Cares is already being called “Bark Souls”
Parry Frames Studio's upcoming Soulslike puts players in control of a stray dog carrying a greatsword while promising parries, backstabs, deathblows, and multiple combat styles.

Stray Dog: Nobody Cares is shaping up to be one of the most wonderfully strange Soulslikes yet. Parry Frames Studio’s upcoming game casts players as a stray dog with a greatsword in his mouth, and Dark Souls fans have already found the perfect nickname: Bark Souls.
The game follows a dog rescued by a disgraced knight. After the knight is captured, the canine sets out to find him, traveling through a grim medieval fantasy world where apparently even a sword-wielding dog cannot escape brutal boss fights.
A canine take on Sif
Its premise is not officially connected to Dark Souls or Great Grey Wolf Sif, but the comparison is easy to understand. Sif guards Artorias the Abysswalker’s grave while wielding an enormous greatsword, whereas Stray Dog: Nobody Cares puts that sword directly in the player’s control—attached to a determined stray’s mouth instead of held in his paws.
The game follows a familiar Soulslike structure, with ruined surroundings, undead enemies, bonfires, and boss encounters. The Steam page promises stealth kills, custom levels, precise parries, and tough boss fights, while Parry Frames Studio says players will learn multiple combat styles and use parries, backstabs, and deathblows. The developer also says the game’s combat framework is complete, giving its swordplay a working foundation.
Stealth will have a place in the game, although the studio has not explained exactly how that system will work. For now, the combination of stealth attacks, precise defensive timing, and a dog swinging a sword through a hostile fantasy world gives the project a personality all its own.
Parry Frames has shared early test footage as the project began attracting attention on X. The studio said the response caught it off guard, giving Stray Dog: Nobody Cares an unexpectedly public start.

The game is not Parry Frames Studio’s first Soulslike project. Its debut game, Crimson Oath, released earlier in 2026 after eight years of development, with part of the project funded by an Epic Megagrant. It currently holds a Very Positive rating on Steam.
The announcement circulated on August 20, 2026, and fans quickly connected the game to Sif, with some joking that it could be an unofficial origin story for the Great Grey Wolf. The Bark Souls name has already become the standout reaction, though the game itself does not yet have a firm release date or release window.

For now, the concept alone has made Stray Dog: Nobody Cares a game worth watching. A stray dog, a disgraced knight, stealth attacks, parries, and a greatsword is a very specific recipe—and somehow, it works.
