Starship Troopers: Extermination is eager for Update 1.5: Phantoms Nest, arriving just as summer approaches. This update is notable for expanding multiplayer battles and introducing new gameplay features that will disrupt how you face the relentless Bug threat.
Here’s what’s coming with Update 1.5:
- Hive Hunt expands to 16 players, now featuring a new “Escort the Nuke” mechanic that adds fresh strategic layers to the mode.
- Horde mode gets a rebalance, switching wave progression from kill count to a time-based system, which should keep the pressure steady and unpredictable.
- The Morita MK2 joins the Vanguard arsenal, packing an experimental plasma attachment that promises to unleash serious havoc on Bugs.
- New weapon mods for the Morita XXX and TW-2-R Sp.L.I.T Shotgun (Slug) offer more customization options to fine-tune your loadout.
- A revamp of Galactic War comes alongside various quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes that tidy up the gameplay experience.
Later this summer, the developers plan to launch one of the most significant updates yet: a New Bug Spawning System. This overhaul changes how enemy encounters unfold, eager to keep every match intense and unpredictable.
A brand-new game mode will also debut — the first since Hive Hunt. Set on Valaka and Agni Prime, you’ll chase Archnigeon, a mysterious resource originally discovered on Boreas. Securing Archnigeon could tip the scales in the Federation’s favor, and the race to claim it is heating up.
This new mode kicks off Operation: very important Strike, which will grow with additional mechanics and levels over time. The full details about Update 1.6 will come in the July Transmission, with a targeted release in August.
Until then, it’s all about staying sharp and ready for whatever the Bugs throw at you. Have you tried the new Morita MK2 yet? Or what do you think about the time-based wave progression in Horde mode? I’m curious what the community will make of these changes.
