Starship Troopers: Extermination is rolling out its Update 1.4 on April 7th, 2025, at 10 AM PT, and it’s packed with fresh content and important fixes that will impact your battlefield experience. From a new underbarrel shotgun mod to improved visibility of downed teammates, this patch aims to polish gameplay and add some cool new tools for troopers to mess around with.
Performance and Optimization
The update tackles several performance issues across client, server, and map levels. Rocket and Inferno bug resource pooling bugs have been fixed, ragdoll lifespans shortened, and Chem grenade visual effects optimized. Maps Agni Prime and Valaka now unload sublevels more aggressively, which should help with smoother gameplay. Bug pathing and locomotion have also been optimized, making enemy movements more natural and less taxing on servers.
Improved Downed State Visibility
One of the most helpful changes is the clearer indication of Bleeding Out and Death states. When a squadmate is incapacitated, a bleeding out icon with a depleting timer bar will show how much time remains to revive them. If it’s too late, a skull icon appears, so you won’t be left guessing about your teammate’s status during intense firefights.
XP Feed Overhaul
The XP feed now condenses multiple simultaneous XP events into a single entry. This is a smart move to reduce the clutter when you’re blowing up groups of bugs or destroying tons of bug eggs, so the feed won’t get overwhelmed and lag behind your action.
FedNet News Broadcast Camera
Here’s a fun addition: troopers can now find and equip FedNet Cameras during missions. When you’re behind the lens, you can capture heroic moments and get live Approval rating updates from citizens back home. Higher approval means XP boosts for nearby troopers or those featured in the broadcast. Keep an eye out for these cameras and special FedNet News side objectives!
Armory Updates
The TW-201-S Morita I gets a new underbarrel shotgun mod at Level 6, perfect for close-quarters combat. The TW-244-C Morita Carbine sees a damage increase and better medium-range performance, while the TDW-99 Morita Tactical SMG gets boosted damage and ammo but with reduced range to keep it balanced. Also, the TW-2 Sp.L.I.T Shotguns have new model names for clarity.
Arachnid and Gameplay Tuning
Gunners have reduced accuracy to give players a fairer chance at long range, but their per-shot damage is up. The Fighting Retreat Galactic Perk now shows an icon and activation cue for better feedback. Scan Pulse and LV Visor will auto-activate when selected on PC with keyboard and mouse.
Bug Fixes and Quality of Life
The patch fixes a ton of issues, including exploits with building placement, weapon swapping, grenade throwing, and AI behavior. Console players get fixes for respawn locations and controller input bugs. UI improvements address missing timers, incorrect faction names, and localization problems. Audio and animation glitches have been smoothed out, like missing footsteps, explosion sounds, and weapon animations.
Known Issues
- Tanker bug damage inconsistency with spray attack.
- AI trooper side objectives temporarily disabled in ARC mode due to server instability, with a fix planned for Update 1.5.
- Demolisher Servos perk melee damage not working.
Overall, Update 1.4 is a solid mix of new gear, gameplay clarity, and technical fixes that should make your missions more enjoyable and less frustrating. I’m especially hyped about the FedNet Camera feature, imagine capturing your squad’s best moments live!
