Starship Troopers: Extermination Hotfix 1.8.1 goes live with Sparta polish and bug fixes
Offworld Industries pushed Hotfix Update 1.8.1 for Starship Troopers: Extermination on December 8, 2025; the Steam build is available for troopers to download now and mostly focuses on tidy-up fixes and a few targeted gameplay tweaks. It adds fresh set dressing to the Sparta maps, reduces how often Tanker bugs misidentify Lure Grenades and Nuclear Det Packs, and clears up a handful of UI and XP issues. Players who read our earlier coverage of Update 1.8 preview will recognize Sparta as the big new map change arriving this month.
There were no sweeping gameplay changes in 1.8.1, think of it as a housekeeping hotfix that patches a few player-facing annoyances and polishes the new content introduced in Update 1.8. Sparta
As the battle to retake the Sparta continues, reminders of our sacrifices stain her corridors. We must never forget the untold debt our troopers have paid for every valuable inch of ground.
- New set dressing in all Sparta maps. Enjoy scenic signs of battle, tour the bloodstained cafeterias, and pay homage to our brave Trooper’s final resting places.
Lure Grenades & Nuclear Det Pack
Federation intelligence confirms that Tankers are also considered a “larger Arachnid form” too and have also gained the uncanny ability to discern the difference between food, and holograms of food.
- Tanker bugs are now less likely to target Lure Grenades & Nuclear Det Packs (previously this change only affect Scorpions).
UI
- Fixed an issue where Progression Unlock Viewer could incorrectly show a grayscale or monotone Icon instead of displaying the correct full-color icons for Company Emblem Unlocks, Class Perks, and Weapon Modifications.
- Improved the “Increase Member Capacity” Icon for the Company Unlocks.
Gameplay & General Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Scan Pulse wasn’t correctly granting XP per bug scanned.
Known Issues
- Players may spawn in the wrong location in SOG Mission 30. Restarting mission will spawn you back at the ship.
- Chemical Connoisseur Galactic Perk showing wrong amount in the UI tooltip; it should only grant +2 Max Stim Carry Capacity.
